The Perfect Place to Stay in Montmorillon What a wonderful experience! First of all, Montmorillon is a charming little gem in the southeastern part of Vienne, and is perfect for an overnight excursion or as a stopping point when traveling across France … and La Bicyclette Bleue is the perfect place to stay. It is located just minutes on foot from the center of Montmorillon and everything you want to see and do is easily accessible. The owners are also just lovely people, who know how to make you feel welcome and give you your space at the same time. They are kind, informative about Montmorillon, and simply pleasant to sit and speak with, with their characteristic English charm. They have transformed their home in a lovely chambre d’hôtes. The guest quarters (and I have to say quarters here) occupy the entire second floor of the front section of the home, and include a spacious bedroom and a comfortable, modern bathroom complete with a shower and bathtub, both on your own private landing at the top of the stairs. Everything is so well-appointed too. From quality linens and towels to decoration, all the little touches really make the place special. There’s a beautiful, manicured back garden, which is the perfect spot for a glass of wine on arrival, and the continental breakfast is copious and delicious. You might even be asked your preference of viennoiseries the night before in preparation. Two thumbs up for La Bicyclette Bleue!

This is such a lovely place! I was greeted warmly and shown my room. It was so pretty and clean and spacious! You'll love Richard and Yvonne. They're so sweet. I had a wonderful time talking with them. They're very knowledgeable of the area and can help with suggestions. I'd absolutely recommend staying here and would absolutely stay again!

Very warm welcome by the owners. Off street parking available. The place was immaculate. Big rooms and huge breakfast choice. Good location too in order to walk into town for restos and bars. Thoroughly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our 4 night stay at LBB. Richard and Yvonne are the most attentive hosts and are clearly revelling in their roles as custodians of this lovely old house. The property is being maintained to a very high standard. It’s neat, tidy and spotlessly clean and is a very comfortable and welcoming home away from home. The neighbourhood is quiet, safe and secure, so much so that we opted not to take advantage of the private car parking offered. Richard and Yvonne are well versed in the history and culture of Montmorillon and were able to offer a wealth of suggestions on where to go and what to do while visiting the département. Breakfast each day was a joy - smiles all around with the best of local produce on offer. Richard cycled to the bakery each morning to ensure we had the freshest of fresh croissants and bread. Our evenings in the garden were punctuated with shared glasses of wine and relaxed and friendly conversation. There’s an authenticity about LBB and its owners that is seldom found beyond small communities like Montmorillon.

Great Chambre d' Hotes Great place to stay, lovely, attentive owners, very helpful with restaurant suggestions. Excellent breakfast. Some clearer directions on how to find the house initially would be my only suggestion.
