The Riverview Retreat Corbett by Leisure Hotels

We booked riverview retreat in March looking at the extensive marketing online and feedback from network. The room that we got was not as clean as expected and the bedding was not comfortable. There was an issue with the AC so the team was cooperative and gave us an upgrade - where the bedding was better. Overall the resort needs an overhaul as it still has old fashioned things… and general upkeep of the rooms can be improved. The garden areas are beautiful and better maintained than the rooms ! The location of the resort is excellent. Breakfast options were good too. however the service at breakfast was probably one of the worst I hav experienced. Staff looked grumpy in the morning. They were not voluntarily helping all tables to receive the live cooking items. Some of them were assisting only 2/3 tables upon request - which I found to be not so pleasing. The deck next to Kosi river was the best thing about the resort. The resort is not very big - compact size with all basic facilities in place. The handicraft store - I bought a few items and at the time of payment when I took my credit card out I was informed that there will be a 2.5% charge - didn’t know it still existed! Then they asked us to pay by cash. It’s a decent resort to stay in with some things to improve. There are other resorts which can be more value for your money !

Great stay at the Riverview retreat, the river front of this property is definitely their USP, lush green gardens and accessibility to the river. The property is well maintained and the staff is courteous including Ms Bhavna and Mr. Yoginder. The food is good, high-tea comes with variety of options. Lunch and finner buffet also have a good spread. Mr. Bhuwan was very considerate and gave a walk through of the property and also helped us get a room with a better view. Some rooms do require an upgrade but that is part of their future plan. All in all a pleasing stay.

Everything in the resort - service, staff, food, rooms, facilities, river view was exceptional. Special thanks to Manmohan Ji for making our stay really comfortable and fun. Also thanks to all the restaurant staff for serving us out of the way

Overview: The Riverview Retreat is a fantastic getaway for a relaxing experience in Jim Corbett. Situated on the riverside, it offers an excellent on and offshore experience of the Kosi. We had visited in the month of October which made the weather pleasant enough for sitting by the river banks and having a safari in the National Park. Room: We had stayed in the Duplex Studio which was situated right over the reception. It offered a vast space of 21 sq.m. paired with a shared balcony space with tables and chairs set up (see photo). The room was nice in itself but lacked proper maintenance and had few parts of the lights and A/C controls broken or straight up missing. The bed setup was nice with a double bed on the bottom floor and a twin bed setup on the top floor. The stairs to the top floor are a bit steep so one has to be careful. The room also comes with a 43 inch LED TV which has good audio and video. The bathroom albeit a bit small is nice and is properly maintained. Overall the room is nice after the renovation but the maintenance team has to step-up their work. Food: The room has come with a package of Breakfast + Dinner option. The main restaurant, "The Gurney" is where all the meals are served. The food was excellent and so delicious during both the meals. The breakfast options contained all of the usual options of juices, cereals, North and South Indian as well as European cuisines. Although the there were new options everyday, some were repeated from the past day but everything was fresh. There were also live counters for South Indian, Pancakes, Waffles, Paranthas, etc. ***** with multiple condiments, spreads, marmalade, etc. In Dinner, a similar pattern followed with sweet dishes and Chinese cuisine. After dinner, you could also sit outside near the river deck, and listen to the live music being played and sung by a talented artist. Now, onto the Complimentary High-Tea. The service was nice and all the food was fresh. Most of the food in the high-tea as well as the main meals was created by Mr. Pandey and his wife who have been with Riverview Retreat for 15-20 years (even before being acquired by Leisure Hotels group). Mr Pandey created the awesome Kullhad chai which full of milk and flavour. While his wife created the buttery and savoury Bun Maska. More dishes and drinks such as coleslaw sandwiches, pakodas, iced teas, etc. were also available. Overall, the food of the hotel was very flavoursome and appetizing. All thanks to the Chefs, Mr. Pandey and his wife and hotel management for upholding the quality of the food. River View: The River front is absolutely stunning and serene. It has a nice wide landscape with the calmness of the Kosi river. The resort has provided many entry points to the river banks which starts with a sandy path but quickly turns into a rocky path, which might make you trip, so one has to be careful there too. Apart from that, one can enjoy sitting on some boulders which are either just on the river ban

There are many excellent homestays and resorts ***** the same stretch of road, but after staying at Riverview Retreat and exploring the riverbed, I’m 100% convinced that there’s no place—not even the nearby Taj—that offers a view like this! Without a doubt, it’s the best view in the area. We visited at the end of October during the dry season, and it was an unforgettable experience to literally walk ***** the riverbed. If you're lucky, you might even witness tigers coming down to drink from the river, as the resort sits right across from the intersection of two hills where they sometimes appear. While we didn’t spot one ourselves, the staff showed us some incredible photos they've captured! The sunrise over this intersection is absolutely breathtaking, and waking up early to watch it from the deck is a must. Beyond the unbeatable location, the resort itself is stunning. The beautifully designed gardens, deck, and cottages made our 5-night stay thoroughly enjoyable. I never found myself bored for a moment. The food was fantastic, and there’s nothing quite like relaxing on the deck with a drink in hand, listening to the river and soaking in the peaceful ambiance. Worth every single rupee! Each night, there was live music, and one evening we were treated to a captivating Kumaoni dance performance that gave us a taste of the local culture. It was a memorable highlight of our stay. While I can't remember everyone’s name (and that’s on me), I have to give a special shoutout to Bala and Laxman, who were wonderful hosts. Their stories about the local cuisine, culture, and tiger encounters added so much richness to the experience. I’m already recommending this place to everyone I know—it’s truly one of a kind!
