Porth Veor Manor Villas & Apartments

Very clean apartments. Comfortable and cosy. Quiet area. Pool is a bonus when the sun shines. But even if it rains the heating in the apartment is very good for drying off wet shoes and coats. Highly recommend breakfast in the hotel restaurant, great value and friendly staff.

Our go to place every year with our ever expanding family. We love it here but this year there are a few subtle changes that made our stay even better. There are cushions now on all outdoor seating and by the pool is a box full of inflatables, buckets/spades etc other guest have left for communal use….. fab idea we left a blow up jet sky. The gardens look like they’ve had some extra TLC too the place looks and is amazing. See you next year.

We stayed in a garden view apartment (2 adults/2 children ages 1 & 2) was ideal for us away from the pool so we could relax without been on edge around the pool even though this has a fence all around it the gate is left open quite a lot by other children in and out of the pool, the garden gave space for the kids to run around. The apartment is set over 2 floors, was clean and modern. The outdoor pool is heated so we used this on a few occasions. I requested a cot and high hair prior to our arrival and these were provided at no additional charge (we took a cot mattress) The apartment has 1 bedroom/ bathroom with shower/ down stairs toilet/ sofa bed if required… does say sky sports on the website but we didn’t have this. I did check with reception who were going to send maintenance the following day but I didn’t hear anything but this didn’t ruin our holiday. The hotel had this as it was in the welcome book for hotel guests but not in the garden apartment packs. Other members of our party stayed in the pool villas and hotel. Pool villas- more dated but more roomy… areas of maintenance like bathroom mould required Hotel room- as above The hotel only serves breakfast no other food options are available which wasn’t a problem to us in the apartments but those in the hotel felt disappointed by this as not only no other food options but not even a fridge in their rooms (since covid they haven’t restarted doing any further food) Hotel bar we spent some time in there, mainly managed by the same member of staff that’s on reception. The carpets could do with a deep clean as Childrens feet/socks were black after spending time in the bar area. Overall the garden villas were definitely the best decision and others wished they had booked them. We would return to the garden villas and hope they get more facilities back up and running as would bring the venue more to life again

Truly a gem of a place. This is our third time visiting and we’ve booked again for next summer already! The villas are perfect and the heated pool is fabulous. Staff are friendly & helpful. Location is perfect. We couldn’t ask for anything more!

What can we say about this visit. To start with we have stayed on the complex both in the hotel and villas on many ocassions since it opened in its present form approx 16 years ago. Despite having minor issues on previous visits that were quickly resolved this time was different. We had booked for a one week stay from monday 12th December 2022, but due to bad weather in Kent., we arranged on Sunday 11th to arrive that evening. We paid accordingly.We were allocated Villa Number 12 We arrived at 2000 to find no hot water or heating. It was one of the coldest nights of the year ( it was the cold spell ). We tried ringing the emergency number as shown within our apartment but no reply. The bathroom and shower towel rails did work but with little effect. Early in the morning our daughter who lives close by brought us a portable heater from her home, it showed at 8am a whopping 7 degrees centigrade. " ......extremely cold , other words cannot be used . We found the maintainence man at approx 9am who quickly came to the apartment and fixed the bolier and heating. It had to be repressured, he said. Eventually by 1300 adequate heating in parts of the apartment was restored. However there was no heating throughout via the underfloor heating in the bathroom and only part of the floor was heated in the shower room. To help with our week we were given additional bath mats so we were not walking on cold floors. We also had to point out to the Staff Team the state of the curtains in the bedroom , poorly hung due to the time expired curtain materials. There were a number of light bulbs out within the unit, some were replaced. But one of the two cooker lights which we showed to the maintainence man, remained out during our visit. With regard to the cleaning of the unit cobwebs on the side of the walls in the main bedroom and the air vents abbove windows everywhere had not been cleaned for some time. We took photos of everything and sent them by email to Porth Veor Manor. I will give the team their due that what they could replace they did quickly as has always been the case. It was a pity that the the holiday started in such an awful manor. This is the 1st time we have had to complain on many vists to the complex. Despite this very bad start things settled down from Monday afternoon onwards and we had a good family week in the villa . What needs doing is simple. 1.Just update the emergency numbers in the apartments to incude those on the front door to the entrance to the hotel. We did not venture there, that night, it was very cold and wet and we thought that the only number was as shown within the villa..Also we knew no staff were on duty in the office. 2. Ensure when people arrive there is hot water and heating, if it cannot be guaranteed do not take the booking. The mainatinence man did say to us he would check the the water and heating was working for expeced arrivals, he did not work weekends he sad. 3. Get the owners to replace the time expired

Das Apartment ist sehr geräumig. Unten hat es die voll ausgestattete Küche sogar mit French Press. Hatte extra einen Kaffee Filter mitgebracht, was so nicht nötig war. Wir waren Selbstversorger und haben unser Frühstück und Abendessen dort selbst zubereitet. Dann hat es noch ein Wohnzimmer eingegliedert, welches auch eine weitere Schlafmöglichkeit bietet. Ein Gäste WC ist ebenfalls unten. Oben dann ein gemütliches Schlafzimmer mit genügend Stauraum für jeden und ein Bad mit Dusche, ebenfalls genug Ablage - und Stauraum. Bus hält entweder am Alexandra Court ca. 400m oder Porth four turns ca. 500 m. Letztere hat mehr Möglichkeiten in diverse Richtungen. In Newquay gibt es einige Möglichkeiten, Lebensmittel einzukaufen. Waren meist im Aldi. Haltestelle bei MC D. Es hat eine schöne Gartenanlage vorm Apartment (die hinteren 5 Apartments). Der Pool ist angenehm warm und auch bei frischem Wetter so gut zu benutzen. Tücher gibts an der Rezeption. Personal sehr freundlich.
