Mountain Vista Seaside Cottages

Combined with the Bird Island boat trips this stay was excellent. Great view from my room of the water. The cabin was spacious. Had everything I needed including a kitchen area. There were ample outlets and a deck area. Hearing the boats go out first thing in the morning was comforting.

Me and my family loved the whole place, shout-out to Sheila for the warm welcome. The cabin has all that we need during our stay. Small but well equipped kitchen, clean bathroom, comfortable bedroom, and relaxing ambience. The view is fantastic! We will definitely come back on the fall to enjoy the colors it will bring.

My wife and I spent three nights here and it was perfect: incredible views, cool ocean breezes, comfortable and clean cottage, friendly staff, and steps away from the highlight of our Cape Breton vacation which was the puffin viewing boat trip. This really is a special place, so relaxing and easy. It also was a convenient location for exploring the eastern side of Cape Breton Highlands and points south and east of there. We highly recommend Mountain Vista Seaside Cottages and can't wait to come back in the future. Thank you for making our stay so memorable.

I have wanted to take this tour for as long as I can remember. So while visiting friends we all went together. I have to say this is one of the best boat tours I have ever taken. The Caption and First Mate were fantastic. Our tours of the bird islands and the amount of Puffins and other birds and seals that we saw was great. They had knowledge and information on all the birds and I was able to get some amazing shots with my cell phone. We also learned about the boat itself and the process on how it was made. A very very informative tour. Would take this tour again in a heart beat.

We received a warm welcome at check-in and the owners were very attentive throughout our 2-night stay. The scenery is gorgeous and we enjoyed being so close to the ocean. The cabin was sweet and well-built, with all the amenities needed for a longer stay than ours. I'd recommend bringing some stuff with you for light meals, as there is a kettle, hotplate, microwave, dishes, etc. and it's great to roll out of bed, make a cup of tea and a light breakfast, and eat on the table outside facing the water. Having laundry on-site was a big plus, too! Our cabin was clean and well-maintained, but the cabins are older and could use a bit of TLC. It is worth noting that there were quite a few earwigs (which is to be expected for the height of summer in the area) so I'd recommend shaking out your clothes and shoes before putting them on in the morning. If you're used to staying at the Hilton, this feels a bit more like camping. If you're prepared for that then this is a very enjoyable stay, but if you come expecting a luxury cabin like what you might find on Air BNB, then I'd recommend planning a little differently for your trip. Overall we enjoyed our stay! The bird tour is worth checking out (particularly if you enjoy photography) and the gift shop was very sweet. We left feeling rested and would stay here again.

Host was helpful with any requests. A bit larger cottage was available so we ended up taking that for a few extra dollars per night. Would be a great place to bring your kayak. Have never cooked with an induction plate was surprised how well it worked. Since we were there two days did some cooking. Only basic kitchen tools, no cheese grater, peeler, etc. but had those in camping in vehicle. Host recommended things to do and suggested local roadways to make for better trips. Would stay again!
