We spent the night 5/20 and 5/21/2026. The hotel is just a short drive from downtown Oban but it feels miles away. This is the Scottish countryside. The house (palace? mansion?) is massive and spectacular it presides over lovely, hilly countryside replete with deer, chickens and peacocks. When we went, the rhododendrons were in full bloom. The colors were unbelievable. Our room (room 2) had what was, I think, the largest bed I’ve ever slept in. Comfortable! The bathroom is also huge. The decor is sumptuous and feels very Scottish in the most beautiful way. The interior of the house (palace? Mansion?) is richly decorated. Five stars to the interior designer. The staff is warm, efficient and professional. Breakfast was delicious. I had coconut soaked overnight oats, cold and they were divine. My spouse had the crepe, also divine. The breakfast room is beautifully appointed and the wait staff is friendly and prompt. We enjoyed our special dinner the first night so much, that we reserved for the second night. The dining experience was worth every penny. The food was creative and flavorful. And the interior of the restaurant is exceptional. You won’t believe this! There is artwork throughout the property. It looks like dreamy paintings but it is actually dyed sheep’s wool. Gorgeous work. An event center is being built on the grounds. All glass and quite large and surrounded by mature trees. The stonework walls leading to it are beautifully constructed. I think this will be a highly sought after even space. I can only imagine the weddings that will take place here. I cannot recommend this property enough. They’ve spoiled me.
