Lake Vyrnwy Hotel & Spa

We visited over Easter - a 3 night stay. This was our 3rd visit to the hotel - and we stayed for the first time in a Garden room. Previously we had a lake facing suite, then a lake facing room. The hotel, grounds, facilities and food are excellent and we would definitely return again. A notable point of nuisance on this occassion, was sounds emanating from another room - a couple chatting / arguing - think it was the room below but we heard it clearly into the night and so that night specifically, our sleep was poor. That is not the hotels fault, and probably just the old design - but we didnt experience that in the more costly rooms - possibly they are above the Spa or another area where noise pollution is less. So would probably go for a lake view again next time - for sleep quality - but the quality of the hotel still warrants a strong rating.

We arrived for a long weekend business trip on a Thursday afternoon. Place and the gardens are beautiful and scenic however the décor is somewhat tired. It happened to be a very hot weekend and room was too warm in the evening despite open door. A fan could have helped (rooms are not air-conditioned) We decided to stay on bed and breakfast basis. On the second day, we were seated at 9am for breakfast and orders were taken. No tea arrived except a standard tray with toast and jams etc. Even at 10am, the main breakfast had not arrived despite numerous queries to restaurant staff. Just after 10m, a "Full Welsh" was served what looked like leftover food on a plate and no egg!. No apologies, nor remediation attempt by any staff on duty. We decided to leave the restaurant and complained to the manager that did not seem to go anywhere, So we skipped the next day breakfast and left the hotel. Staff do not appear to understand customer service nor trained in hospitality. Sadly the hotel lost two potential returning customers and their families.

This hotel trades on the view which is lovely but not lovely enough to divert attention away from the inedible food. I had one bite and sent it away. The hotel is very tired and dated … just not good enough … luckily I’m only here for one night but I’m dreading breakfast… 🤢

We stay here at every opportunity we can. My Happy Place. Staff, food and rooms are perfect. Always smiling and have a chat. The view is fabulous and the breakfasts are amazing. The View is just outstanding. We've been coming here now for a few years at any opportunity. We love it so much . We definitely recommend. Lake views from the room are gorgeous ... Just sit out on a clear night and look up :-)

Lovely Spa package experience! Warm greeting arriving at the Spa reception & had a tour of the facilities. The Spa although small was perfectly formed & had great facilities which were all working (which was great to see as often at least one thing is out of order whenever I use a spa do this was a real bonus!) The view from the spa suite is nothing short of breathtaking across the lake! We enjoyed a 2hr spa journey there including jacuzzi, steam room, sauna & terrarium with heated beds. The spa massages were really good and much appreciated by myself & my husband. Much thanks to both therapists as we both enjoyed the treatments. The afternoon experience got even better ending with a wonderful afternoon tea in the main restaurant with a window seat again to admire that view. The Staff in general were extremely attentive & knowledgeable on the various teas available and had noted down my food allergy which was great to see. The food was tasty and varied and when we couldn’t eat the beautiful cake selection we were kindly given a box to take them home The only minor constructive criticism I have it that there were some minor refurbishment needs which wouldn’t be costly but would make the experience 5 stars…. The steps up to the jacuzzi looked like they needed a really good scrub as they were looking a bit shabby and in the women’s changing room the kickboard at the bottom of the sinks were all chipped and worn; they simply needed replacing which would enhance the changing area. It was these sort of things which smacked of the lack of care which you would expect in a 4 star hotel.

We stayed for one night and can't fault it all... Excellent value for money, staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the clay pigeon shooting despite an error with the app - John was a great instructor! We had private use of the spa facilities which they discounted as we were unable to use the whole of our alloted time! Breakfast was delicious and so were the tapas we enjoyed in our room. Will definitely be staying again!
