Hotel Plan Bois

Not a good experience. We went with Crystal Ski Holidays and have given this hotel the poor review it deserved. Our experience was as follows. We had room 201 in this hotel. The shower overflowed and had to be fixed. The shower tray was filthy when we arrived and there was black mould in the corners. The shower head was broken and only had jet setting. Sand/ dirt was in the Childrens beds - a sofa bed and a camp bed. The room was tired and had air heating that was noisy and couldn’t be kept on at night if you wanted to sleep. So we got cold. Also the heating system upstairs was extremely noisy. The food was poor. Breakfast had cold scrambled and boiled eggs and very little of it. Coffee machines broke down and the coffee was awful. Lounge/bar area was cold unless they put on the wood burner but that wasn’t until at least 5pm. No boot drying facilities. Just rusted cages in the basement for your equipment. Gym equipment was ancient and broken. The sauna had to be switched on and had no light. If you are lucky you may get a refurbished room so if you are happy to take that risk and don’t have high expectations then this hotel is well situated. It can be ski in with good snow and you are a reasonable skier. You have to walk down the road and up stairs or climb up a hill to the slopes so it is most definitely not ski out. There are other hotels at similar prices that would be a much better choice in this lovely resort. On a positive note the skiing was great and worked really well for the family.

Our second visit to this lovely hotel. We had a family room with a mezzanine floor this year (409) and it was great to have the extra room. We had a lovely large king size bed downstairs and 4 beds upstairs for the kids. Food this year is even better than last year with a new chef and plenty of food. Even the fussiest of guests won’t go hungry with a large buffet starter then two courses with 3 choices each. The location is amazing, just a few minutes walk to the chairlift or gondola and the ski hire shop downstairs. You can ski back to the door off a gentle red. The owner and his family are super welcoming and look after everything for you. The rooms are clean and beds are made up every day. A nice outdoor space which is great for sledging and making snowmen. There is a lovely lounge area and bar with comfy sofas just off the dining room where the kids enjoyed sitting in the evening. We are very likely to return to Plan Bois again next year!

Loved our stay here - we arrived on New Year’s Eve to a very warm welcome and a multiple-course dinner. Our family room had a double bed, a bunk bed, a large wardrobe, a small hallway, a shower room en-suite and two doors - one to the hotel corridor and one to the outside. It was warm and the beds were comfortable. The decor is traditional. Each morning at breakfast, there was a menu for dinner. 2-courses. each with 3 choices. Breakfast itself was a good range of pastries, and coke options. One of our children is a picky eater. The hotel made him plain pasta each night. We thoroughly enjoyed dinner - the portions were quite generous, so part way through the week, I started asking for half portions of the main course. In addition to the two courses selected at breakfast, there was a large buffet table of cold starters with a basket of fries, and a dessert table. The ski lift is a very short walk from the hotel and you can ski back to the hotel. We liked it so much that we have booked to go again.

Ah just back from Plan Bois in Pila. We thought this small family run hotel was charming. Rooms are spacious and beds comfortable and warm but the decor is a bit dated in style - lots of dark wood and our room had a sofa bed and another single bed in it randomly as we were just a couple but loads of storage ! We had a small shower in the bathroom but other rooms we viewed had a shower attachment over the bath suitable only for a sit in the bath shower. There is a lovely comfy lounge / bar area - really nice place to unwind and have a pre/post dinner drink. Our room was off the lounge ( not noisy ) and just up the stairs from the boot room. Very convenient for the lift as well. Food is totally adequate for the price you are paying and some meals were very good - the service is excellent. They do need to sort their coffee machine out though for breakfast - my husband was despairing ! So grateful to the staff who went out of their way to help when I was injured. They had a lovely fire in the lounge which wasn’t lite in the time we were there which was a shame - maybe it just gets too hot ? We would definitely consider coming back if we were coming to this resort again … it’s a characterful place that grows on you !

We stayed at the Hotel Plan Bois for a week in February and felt that it might be a bit of a compromise having seen some negative reviews. But we needn't have worried. It was a charming, hospitable and fabulously located family-run hotel. Yes, it was a bit tired in places and the water pipes knocked sometimes, but it was kept fabulously clean and the beds were comfortable. The rooms were spacious which is always an asset when you're struggling with lots of ski gear and the boot room in the basement led out to within 50m of a main lift. The evening meal was plentiful and very good, though the breakfast was a bit limited and apparently the coffee wasn't up to Italian standards. The bar area was spacious and comfortable with lots of sofas and places to sit. The staff were delightful and having had a bad fall, ending up on crutches for most of the week, they couldn't do enough to help me. I would definitely be happy going back.

Great Hotel just across the road from the Chair Lift and Cable Car. We stayed for a week 28th Jan - 4th Feb. Arrived Sunday, check-in was swift and our room was ready early. Great room, very warm (had to turn the heating down) with a Fridge which was very handy. Bathroom was spacious with a bath and very powerful shower head (Only downside was it really could do with a shower curtain to stop the water going everywhere). First evening meal was a set meal but after that you choose your meals when you go for breakfast. You Will Not go hungry at this hotel! Starters - Great spread of food including cheese, meats, salad, chips, etc. Main Course 1 - You will have chosen this from a choice of 3. For example… Lasagne (and not a small one) Main Course 2 - For Example Escalopes Dessert - Choice of cakes - help yourself The bar was well run and well stocked with very reasonable prices. Comfortable sofas to sit, chill and have a few drinks. They also have a Boot Room for your equipment. Each cage is numbered as per the room you are in. The Ski Rental Shop is in basement of the hotel which is really handy too. All of the staff were amazing and we met some lovely people there too. The skiing is great, the slopes are really well groomed. It gets very busy during the weekend with locals coming up to ski but Monday to Friday was really quiet. This Hotel is up the top of the resort where it is really quiet in the evening. The piste Bars all shut down by 6 at the latest, the lifts shut at 5pm so don’t go there expecting to party outside of the Hotel although on the Tuesday and Thursday night they did drive us 1/2 way through the tunnel to a bar for a bit of line dancing and a 60’s - 90’s music night which made a nice change. All in all a great holiday thanks to the staff and resort. Could do with a tips jar as we couldn’t find one. Thanks for a GREAT Holiday 🙂👍
