SBH Hotel Royal Monica

The hotel has its own part of the beach and has very relaxing vibe. It’s outside the town centre but is only a quick taxi ride. The food was adequate and I would say was quite good seeing the hotel is only a 3 star. The rooms were large and spacious and very clean. All in all a great hotel for a relaxing holiday.

Excellent location. Our Room was very good and spacious. Staff are very friendly, polite, helpful. We felt very cared for! Animation team was kind and helpful. Engaged with the children very well! Restaurant staff very hard working. Good food loved paella. Seating area in the restaurant could be enhanced to create a more appealing look. Everywhere clean. Thanks a lot

The price does not justify the quality of the hotel. Food was mediocre. Service was terrible. Staff was rude and unwilling to assist. Each staff member has an excuse every time that we tried to get information. Rude staff. Some dirty coffee cups were placed between the clean cups. Although we had all-inclusive food & drinks, occasionally opted to eat at other restaurants. During the checkout, the staff also made it nearly impossible for us to get our deposits back for our beach towels and air-conditioning remotes (after taking our towels back).

Just got back from 10 night at shb royal monica lanzarote first negatives oh sm chip in my bath. Small corner need replastering. Did it spoil my stay hell no. Best all inclusive food I've had. Immaculate grounds. Best house keeping. All staff conscientious and polite. 30 min beautiful costal walk to amazing flamingo beach. Not many English there but I learnt to say good morning in 3 other languages (reep what u sow) we realy have had the best holiday here. Evening entertainment was hit and miss but enjoyable. Karaoke night was like being a judge at the euro vision. ENGLAND NO PIONTS lol. Only down side was if ur nocturnal like me couldn't get a cuppa before 7.30.maybe a machine in reception would be good. Otherwise it's been amazing. Don't let the negatives put u of.

We had a great stay at the Royal Monica. Like the other reviews, you cannot deny that it is more tired than some of the nearby hotels, but it is also a fraction of the price. My sister stayed in the next door hotel in October 2023 and payed more than double. Just some constructive feedback I hope - The lobby and reception area could do with a face lift - it’s very brown and dark and I watched multiple people arrive and struggle to locate the reception desk. There are also often long waits at reception, so I think more staff would be ideal, though every staff member I dealt with was polite and helpful. The rooms are definitely 3* but they are perfectly comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower was fab and the room was big and bright. Based on my experience in many all inclusive hotels, the food at the Royal Monica was the best. Lots of variety, really hard working restaurant staff, and always plenty of options. Lots of guests commented on the quality of the food - so it’s definitely a highlight for most. The table staff are a credit to the hotel - they always work with a smile. The grounds of the hotel are really good - and always very clean. Lanzarote is very windy and napkins etc often get blown around, but there was never rubbish around for very long. Again there is some wear and tear on the paths, but it’s to be expected in an older hotel, and a hotel that is open all year round. We constantly saw maintenance teams working hard. The pool area is well designed and perfectly comfortable with lots of beds and we never had a problem getting one. It is a little tired and I found the pool bar a bit dingy and dated. But I was always able to get drinks and there were always snacks available. We didn’t find the evening entertainment options appealing so we skipped these. The drinks have been mentioned in other reviews, so if you are looking for perfectly made cocktails this is not the hotel for you. They are cheaply made but that’s reflected in the star rating and price. They beer and the wine was good and there are soft fizzy drinks on tap. The best thing about the hotel are the small coves with sunbeds on the sea front - they are so beautiful and private and none of the other sea front hotels have anything like it. Overall we had a really lovely restful holiday and we would go back for a cheap break.

Excellent value, food amazing, themed nights for food so always something for everyone. Snacks were available but we were too full. Drinks there was a good choice of beers wine and spirits also plenty of soft drinks and tea and coffee machines available . I took a travel kettle as it was a long way to walk to get a morning cup of tea, no kettles available at this hotel. Rooms were a good size basic but clean and tidy. We had a sea view room which was amazing. Entertainment in the evening was ok, got fed up as there was a lot going on for the French holiday makers, French quiz every night but later more entertaining was provided ie karaoke, bingo, dancers, the African dancers were amazing. Lovely beach area although sea a little cool in April and we didn’t use the pool but it looked very inviting. Windy in the evenings in the pool bar area so a cardigan is needed. Hotel staff very very nice and helpful, cleaners very nice too and did a very thorough job, hotel very clean. Really good value as the food was very very good. We would definitely go to this hotel again

Me and my partner traveled from Belfast got this holiday at a great price wee really enjoyed our stay here food was great lots of options definitely got our moneys worth, staff were friendly our room was good amazing view from our room wee didn’t want to leave Only thing would say drinks are watered down but we didn’t care we found supermarket down the road that sold cheap drink would definitely be back thanks

just came back from our holiday. Overall, as many people say, it’s very outdated and definitely needs renovation (tiles in the pool fall off, got pricked by it several times). Food variety is very bad, breakfasts are always the same, small choice of food. Lunches are different only by a type of a meat (1 type of meat and 1 of fish). Dinners are better, however, the desserts variety is pretty sad. it’s either rice pudding, chocolate mousse or some cheap cake. Drinks are watery. Pool bar is not always clean, and the smell of it makes me not want to be there. Some of the staff speak English. Entertaining program was okay. Location is not the best one, but renting a car solved this. Overall, we won’t come back, but it’s a pretty decent hotel for someone who is not picky like me 😉

I had a 10 night stay at Royal Monica and I must say the hotel was great. I had booked a sea view room and it was only a few metres from the sea, the pool Bar and restaurant were only a 2 minute walk from my room, the place was very clean and the Housekeeping Staff did a great job. The food was always varied and fresh with plenty of choice and even for Vegans. The Pool bar also did snacks throughout the day and there was plenty of choice of drinks ether soft or alcoholic Tea or coffee. All the Facilities you would want. Food was great and the All Inclusive Drinks were fine. For the Price you will find it hard to beat and because of this I will return this summer to the Royal Monica as it is now my Favourite in Playa Blanca.
