Casa Escondida Bed & Breakfast

Our stay at Casa Escondida was perfect in every way. Innkeeper Ernesto, assistant Danette, and Guest Innkeepers Patrick and Tati all went above and beyond to make our stay a dream come true. The setting of this B&B is breathtaking. The patio of the main house is wonderful. Songbirds and hummingbirds are constantly visiting the feeders. Breakfasts were culinary delights. We stayed in the Casita which is detached from the main house. It has a queen bed with kiva fireplace in the main room, another room with a twin bed, a kitchen, a bathroom, and its own private patio. It was beautifully decorated and perfect for us. The location is centrally located. We stayed at Casa Escondida and did day trips to Santa Fe, Taos, Bandelier, Madrid, and more. The best things of all were the amazing people we met while staying there. We will definitely be back. HIGHLY recommend!

We ventured to Chimayo, NM to visit nearby Santa Fe , Taos and Ojo Caliente for some needed soaking and healing on day excursions. We found Casa Escondida and we loved the quiet, the beauty and ambiance of this lovely B & B. We stayed in the Mariposa room and were so pleasantly surprised. The private Bath across the hall was private so we felt very comfortable. Our room and private bath were clean and decorated very lovely and comfortably. In the morning we sipped a cup of coffee in the main living room before our breakfast. There were also ample outdoor areas to enjoy the morning or evenings as you wished. Our Host Ernesto was gracious, informative and presented a delicious breakfast each morning. The staff was also gracious. Ernesto suggested several new places to visit in the surrounding area and all of his suggestions were great. We hope to return again as there is so much to see in the nearby and surrounding areas and this B& B is on our return again list. W & M

Stayed in the Casita, which was in a separate building from the main house. It has its own private covered patio. We enjoyed our morning coffee there each day before breakfast. The room was comfortable and clean. Only downside was that there was a one-step elevated area between the bedroom and bathroom. We had no problem finding the place. Our phone's navigation system led us right there. Also, the B&B sends you several automated emails before your arrival with answers to many of the questions you might have. Wish more hotels/B&B's did this. Ernesto is the owner and breakfast chef. He is very friendly and helpful. His breakfasts were delicious! The B&B is located centrally with good access to Los Alamos, Santa Fe, and Taos. But far enough off the road so that you can enjoy the quiet. We definitely recommend staying here when visiting the area.

The place is charming and peaceful. The owner is extremely thoughtful and accommodating. He will speak with you about things you can do or happenings in the area, and even go out of his way to find out information for you. Plus, he is an excellent cook and your breakfasts will be among the best that you’ve ever had. This is the place to come if you want peace and quiet in a beautiful setting.

Ernesto was so gracious and welcoming and Danette (spelling?) was so sweet and helpful. The views from the Vista Room were fantastic and Ernesto’s breakfast was the best breakfast of any of the the air bnbs we’ve stayed at in New Mexico. The room was beautiful, really comfy bedding and the best pillows! We highly recommend this air bnb in Chimayo, New Mexico.

My family of five all loved our stay at Casa Escondida ! Ernesto is an exceptionally warm and friendly host. The food was great ! The rooms were beautiful ! The grounds were so calming and serene ! Chimayo has a fascinating history and peaceful atmosphere. I’m grateful we had the opportunity to stay at Casa Escondida.

Perfect little gem in a beautiful place and state. It is peaceful, comfortable, welcoming, and a one-of-a-kind. Chimayo is lovely and always worth a visit. Ernesto, Ashley and everyone else there, make this B$B the best! Thank you for your hospitality!

BEWARE!! We are seniors and set to enjoy a nice stay here. We followed the directions and ended up in an unsafe area on rt. 100 which is very narrow one lane road with garbage alongside and unkept homes. We tried to reach out to Casa Escondida with the numbers provided but no one was available. Every call we made was automated. There is no human to speak with. Because we were in a very sketchy area and my wife was feeling frightened we decided to cancel and find a emergency place to stay. Mind you we attempted several times to locate the property looking for signs and could not find. The address itself does not exist. Thinking that this was a scam which most likely it is we had to make emergency plans. We were trying to find this place during daylight, I can't imagine trying to find it at night! My wife and I did not stay at this place thinking it was a scam.

This B&B is not at all as advertised. No luxury bed linens or comfortable orthopedic bed, no bath amenities. The room was not as expected, the air conditioning was very loud. No privacy or black out curtain on the front window next to the entry door. The breakfast was not as advertised and pretty paltry. No one ever answers either by text or by email. Seems to be a common theme amongst other people that have stayed. While many cited a great host and great service, we never saw a "chef" or Ernesto the entire time we were there. We ended up leaving a night early because the bed was old and hard as a rock. We could not take another night on the bed and not be able to move in the morning. The shower was built for someone less than 5ft tall and it leaked. Couldn't open the bathroom window because it opens to the back patio where other guests can see in. No exhaust fan in the bathroom either. We tried texting and emailing the proprietor but no response. They are very good at sending many automated text messages about their policy and stay details. But, beware you will not get a refund if you leave early even if it's due to not finding the rooms as advertised. It was an anniversary weekend trip that turned into having to find somewhere else to stay, as it just wasn't worth the aggregation to what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend getaway. So we paid twice for our weekend, once to the B&B and then once to the hotel we ended up going to.
