We booked this hotel because of its advertised sea views and thinking it would be quieter being set above the port. The staff overall were smiley, helpful and hardworking. Location: above the town with views across the working port, there was a large container ship being loaded/unloaded for the first 24 hours of our stay with all the attendant noise; also a busy road, sports centre and industrial units in the immediate vicinity, not forgetting an active railway line directly below the hotel. Not quite as depicted on the website! Beyond all this good sea views. Room: we had a suite which was fine, not luxurious but perfectly pleasant. Small annoyances being the bottles of filtered water were not refilled daily despite being advertised as such, only one small rubbish bin serving a bathroom, 2 bedrooms separate loo, bathroom & a kitchen/sitting room. At time of writing, 12:30pm, still waiting for the room to be cleaned. Outside: small pool with sun loungers no umbrellas but pine trees offering some shade one of which has bags fixed round it to catch Processionary Caterpillars (google them they are extremely harmful to humans and pets). Restaurant: breakfast is good and varied, buffet style and appears to cater for all tastes. Dinner is ok, nothing special except for the soufflé de Grande Marnier which is superb! There are plenty of small restaurants clustered around the harbour offering very good value alternatives. Port Vendres is a pretty working port curled around a harbour filled with pleasure boats. Much less touristy than neighbouring Collioure. Conclusion: Overall it’s a perfectly pleasant hotel but the noise from railway, road and port made it a disappointing choice for us personally, sadly.
