Disappointing really disappointing, we had 3 roasts today & 2 kids nuggets, it was really underwhelming, far to much gravy it was swimming & far to thin. Gravy has to be thicker. Yorkshire pudding dry & stale, for £18-£20 or pre roast should be a lot better then what we had! We ordered 2 baked cheesecake & chocolate brownie, 4 minutes later got told they sold out of the cheesecake, but no one passed it on to the waiting staff. as for dessert well £9 each over priced for a brought in dessert really disappointed these should be homemade! Really poor. I don’t mine spending money on good food but £9 for a shop bought dessert is over the top, over all the bill is as £188 for 2 adults & 3 kids, far to much for the quality of food we had.

This is a lovely venue with great food in a gorgeous location. The food is excellent, ( I recommend the fish) and the staff friendly and helpful. It can get crazy busy but that is what happens in a good place. It usually nice to be in a pub/restaurant which is welcoming to tourists but ups also well supported by locals . It appears to be a community resource as well as a holiday venue.

Disappointing. Poor food, poor choice, un inspired staff. Poorly trained? What has happened to this lovely pub in the last year?! Very uninspiring menu, Nachos…. 2 blobs of sour cream and some guacamole. No salsa or jalapeños. Tempura prawns served very oddly on a bed of peas with chopped up chilli on them. The special board offered 2 fish dishes neither were available, and they’d sold out of the Lobster. This once great pub needs to go back to basics. Good wholesome pub food, prepared with care. Simple but effective. Fish and chips, Scampi, steaks, burgers, pies…. But of course on the beach in Cornwall - Seafood should be fresh and second to none.

I have visited this pub for many years but not since the refurb. Very disappointing x2 nachos £20 and processed cheese spread like an oil slick. £6.50 a pint no wonder no locals in either. Staff looked fed up and unmotivated. The main lady didn't help talking about rentokill visiting when I was in the restaurant. Go to the blue bar where you will be welcomed. Wont be back and I guess by next winter it will be closed...

Beautiful food, beautiful service from the lovely Elle and her manager, whom were approachable and diplomatic when one of our party wanted to give feedback on the food. Lovely quality produce! Will definitely return upon our next adventure this way!

Nice looking beachside pub. Food was expensive, £16 for veggie burger and £6.50 a pint, but it's location location location I guess. Staff seemed a bit clueless (but nice). Food was very average, over cooked fries, basic burger fillings etc. We had a reservation but after 30 mins ordered at the bar. It wasn't busy. We are here for a week but won't be coming back. 2 out of 5 for this place is possibly generous. Could be run a lot better imo.

Second time we’ve visited the Unicorn at Porthtowan. Excellent service and fabulous freshly cooked food both times. We’ll definitely come here again even though it’s not local to us. Very dog friendly and a lovely relaxed atmosphere to enjoy the view. Would thoroughly recommend!

I recently dined at this restaurant whilst on holiday and while the service upon arrival was prompt, the wait time for our food was quite lengthy, taking around 45-60 minutes. Although the food was good, I found the pricing to be a bit on the high side and not quite worth the value. To add to this, the restaurant attempted to add a substantial service charge for what I would consider average service. Overall, my experience at this restaurant was mixed. While the food was decent and the service was just adequate, I was disappointed with the wait time for the food and the pricing. I would recommend exploring other dining options in the area if you're looking for a better value and exceptional service.

We went for an evening meal and the reception we had when we walked in was very welcoming. The menu was varied with a number of specials to choose from. We had a starter to share followed by Fish of the Day which was Hake and was cooked to perfection. The service was fantastic, special mention to Raenie who looked after us and made sure everything was ok!
