Maison Bleue by Vila Foz

We were due to stay at this hotel in 7 days time. Yesterday they cancelled our booking without any warning. The alternative they offered is an inferior room in their sister hotel a 30 minute taxi ride outside of Porto. This company do not care about they guests. As a compensation they offered us a spa treatment! They are totally disrespectful and don't care that we are now left without accommodation in the centre of Porto 7 days before we travel. I would not stay with this hotel group ever again do so at your own peril. They can and do cancel your accommodation at the last minute and do not give a damn.

Without a doubt, the best hotel experience we have ever had. The staff were kind, friendly, and amenable to anything we asked. After arrival they sent us a message on WhatsApp, and whenever we needed anything during our stay (some wine, an iron, cold water at bedtime, or even a recommendation) we’d only need WhatsApp their number and they replied within a few minutes to grant our wish. Breakfast was included for us, and it became a welcome start to every one of the 7 mornings we were there. A buffet of beautifully ripe fruit, cereals, locally-sourced custard tarts, and even cooked meats complimented the perfectly-prepared eggs made-to-order. Our only regret is that we didn’t realise until our last day that they would even make fresh pancakes on request. Each day, at a time before 5pm that suited us, they would pop into our room and make it sparkle like new. We wrote the team a card to thank them for every pinch of magic they imbued in their gorgeous hotel and into our Porto experience. We cannot wait to go back.

Can’t comment on the hotel … we had lunch in the restaurant on the terrace overlooking the river. Short menu with 6/7 options for starters, main and dessert. However very nice choices. The food was lovely … try the octopus or risotto … and the service was great. The staff were particularly welcoming and friendly. The views are spectacular and, as the weather was blue skies and sunny, it was particularly pleasant. We just turned up off the street with no booking at about 1pm on a Sunday …. For us it was good timing as it was fairly busy by about 1:30pm. Not cheap, but worth it for the food, service and location/view.

We had an unforgettable experience staying at Maison Blue! It was, without a doubt, the highlight of our trip. The staff was incredibly warm and accommodating, and the room was absolutely stunning and incredibly comfortable. Although we didn’t have the chance to enjoy breakfast this time, we are definitely looking forward to returning and staying with you again! Thank you for providing such a beautiful experience during our time at Maison Blue. This place is truly a 10 out of 10!

This hotel is so lovely. The river facing rooms with the balcony are amazing. There is definitely a boutique feel here - the staff are lovely and there is a 24/7 service which we really valued. Location is a walk down from the historic centre but do-able enough. We spent a lot of time in the room relaxing with the views and we loved it. The bathroom is quite exposed to the room though - just a frosted border half way up so be warned if youre not familiar with your room sharer - a curtain could be added for a more comfortable privacy we think. We would 100% stay again though, i imagine in summer it’s lovely.

Maison Bleue is not your typical hotel – it’s very special. This is an older building that recently underwent a sweeping renovation transforming it into a sophisticated masterpiece that combines old-world charm with outstanding contemporary design. High ceilings, carefully selected pieces of art on the walls, a cozy lobby space, creative use of glass and mirror walls, elegant staircases, a beautiful and airy breakfast room, and a lovely terrace all contribute to this guesthouse’s inviting and stylish atmosphere. A color palette emphasizing shades of blue adds to the magic of this place. Our room on the second floor was a generously dimensioned space and had a small private balcony with breathtaking views of the Duoro River. The good-sized bathroom, separated by a glass door from the bedroom, has a sleek and modern design. TV and WiFi worked flawlessly during our stay. The staff at this guesthouse are wonderful hosts, always attentive, ready to answer any question, very friendly and helpful in every respect. You’ll find yourself pleasantly surprised by the affordability of Maison Bleue. It’s a place where you can indulge in convenience, style, and design without breaking the bank. The guesthouse is in a perfect location, just a 15-minute walk from the center of Porto. There is also a streetcar stop very close to the building's entrance. A small, steep cobblestone road takes you down to the Duoro River in just a few minutes. There’s also a lovely park -Jardins do Palácio de Cristal- just across the street and a very short walk up the slope. For anyone looking for a lovely and refined experience beyond your standard Porto hotel, Maison Bleue is the perfect place.
