De Bergkant Lodge

The most delicious hotel breakfast I’ve had to date (lemon cake, local cheeses, delectable omelet, perfect coffee). Loved the attention to detail - Can’t wait to visit again soon, and look forward to seeing the fully revamped/rebranded version of the characterful De Bergkant.

The reception was very friendly and Tracey ( on duty that day) was very,very helpful and made the extra effort to find a person who could fix the problem we had with our car. The garden is calm and beautiful although hotel is right by the main street.

We've loved coming here for years and it's recently changed hands and is even better. Mostly small imporvements and tweaks but it's now even more relaxing and comfortable than before. Also, Prince Albert seems to have improved its food offer, it was always good but it's now excellent, we tried 3 local restaurants that were superb, and we'd just come from Franschhoek. Aslo the beers and bugers at the bar opposite were excellent. We can't wait to go back, it's our "go to" place. Prince Albert is stunning.

Great service! Friendly and accommodating staff. Great location. Centrally located. Beautiful setting. Well appointed and clean rooms. Big bathroom with a bath and double shower. Will definitely stay here again when visiting Prince Albert.

We have visited De Bergkant over a number of years and were a little apprehensive when we heard the previous owners had moved on. This apprehension evaporated as soon as we contacted Tracy-lee in the run up to our visit as she was so helpful and prompt in responding to our requests. On arrival any lingering doubts completely disappeared as she was so professional but equally friendly when we checked in and she confirmed restaurant bookings she had made on our behalf. Our stay for four nights was memorable with absolutely lovely breakfasts and Tracy providing very welcome and delicious cold drinks by the pool. Total attention to detail, welcoming ambience, personable and lovely staff - what more could you ask for? I’m not sure what further delights De Bergkant has in store but one thing is certain - we will be going back again!

I have stayed here before, but in the last year new owners have taken over. That makes a return visit somewhat risky - especially when I had reviewed it favourably before. However, to my delight, there is a palpable improvement. Tracey, who manages the place, does so credibly. The rooms are being sympathetically and gently upgraded. The breakfast was always good - now it’s world class. Tracey bakes every morning so there’s always cake - a sure way to my heart. I fully intend to return as soon as possible.

We arrived wondering what difference we would see compared with our stay last year now it was under new ownership. We were pleased to see that the rooms grounds and pool were still kept to a very high standard. In addition we were delighted to see the big investment in solar power which now protects customer from load shedding. The buildings had all been painted and gave a lighter fresher look. There were also a number of other important changes and improvements like the better more varied breakfasts with freshly baked bread and cakes, And perhaps the most important ingredient was still there - the continued support of great staff who were always there with a lovely smile and a real desire to help. We will definitely be coming back next year

De Bergkant Lodge has recently changed owners. My husband and I stayed there numerous times over the years. I have to say that not only has it lost none of it's charms, but there have been some nice changes and additions made. The breakfast were a feast every morning- home made cake and fresh fruit and the main egg dish changed daily. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The new Front of House, Tracy Lee, could not have been more welcoming. She made all our dinner reservations for us, which is near impossible from the UK, and to our surprise, when it was noticed that we had a flat tyre, insisted on changing it herself! Now that's service. She is a real gem. Prince Albert is a place to relax and take in the beautiful scenery. Our stay at de Bergkant Lodge is what truly makes the whole experience special.

Really enthusiastic manager made this stay particularly pleasing. The rooms are sparkling clean and reaching towards really award level. We must mention that after 30 years, no, 40 years, of world travel, the breakfast here warrants a large medal for quality, service with a smile and simply splendid choice of any kind of breakfast you could possibly want. Bravo, Chapeau!
