Terra Dominicata - Hotel & Winery

We enjoyed how Terra Dominicata is in a scenic spot in the heart of Priorat, close to many wineries and with easy access to beautiful hikes/walks. We walked from the hotel to the monastery and Cellar Escaladei, and it was lovely. Our room was very comfortable, and we enjoyed the breakfast buffet and spa area, as well as the wine tasting on-site. However, there are a few areas of critique, considering the 3 Michelin Key rating. Firstly, the pool is not heated, and there is no fitness center onsite, so it’s hard to truly consider this a “wellness” hotel. There are also no tvs in the room, but they do offer iPads upon request to make up for this. Finally, the restaurant food could have been better and became repetitive for a three night stay. The hotel was able to arrange a taxi for us to dine off-site, which was great. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

This hotel is beautifully thought out . Our room was calm and spacious. The communal areas are so relaxing . We had some lovely meals and the staff particularly the waiters are friendly and helpful . I didn’t enjoy one of my starters and the waiter offered to change it though there was nothing wrong with ( just I now know I don’t like tuna belly !) When you arrive they make it clear that they try to discourage use of electronic gadgets but I think they should actually ban them from the communal areas as there are some people who are so loud as they talk “importantly “ into their phones or as they FaceTime family with no regard for those around .

I didn’t want to leave. I love this hotel and really enjoyed our stay. It’s a gorgeous hotel in a beautiful area. I could sit and listen to birds and look for animals amount the trees all day. Peaceful and wonderful. Check in was easy and our room was ready after we had a delightful lunch on the beautiful terrace. I love love the patterned tile on the floor in the rooms. The room is good sized. The only small thing is lack of plugs near the beds. The bathroom is large with two sinks, a giant walk in shower, bathtub , and toilet closet. I really liked the toiletries, they smell amazing. And thank you for having full size, non disposable toiletries. Robes and cute straw hats come with the room (and the hats are yours to keep!). We did the spa experience with is awesome. For one hour you get a dry sauna that’s a wine barrel, hit tub and sitting area nestled in the olive trees to yourself! And they provide a picnic basket with water, lemonade, and tasty treats. Great experience! A wine tasting is included with the visit. It was good and we tried some wines to set mine what we might like with dinners. Breakfast is great. There is a buffet of charcuterie, pastries, and fruit. Then eggs and dishes to order from the menu. The eggs Benedict are so good!! The coffee is served yourself from a machine. Convenient but just okay cappuccino. The team working in the restaurant is wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. They were so caring when I had a food allergy issue. The half board at dinner is a great deal. And a nice way to try various menu items. I do wish there were more or different options for lunch but minor wish. The location is beautiful but I would say you definitely need a car (or to be one of the super strong cyclists we saw). Then you can explore the area and visit cute villages and tasty family owned wineries. The pool has the great view and many lounge chairs with umbrellas for this of us wanting shade. Parking is convenient, right by the grounds. There are little paths to walk through all the trees and plants around the property. I very much enjoyed my stay and will definitely be back!

We were late for arrival as we were driving to the hotel so we called to ask if the restaurant would be open for our late arrival, we were assured it would be. Upon arrival, even though it was late they only cared about our wellbeing, refusing to rush, instead making sure we had time to order and have a much needeed glass of wine before dinner which was excellent, highly recommend the restaurant. The room was expansive and well appointed with a breathtaking view, but the best is the staff. We were staying at the same time of a large group, so our breakfast order was delayed and we had to cancel it as we had to leave. The staff was very apologetic. We know these things happen so did not mention it at checkout. But the breakfast staff did call the reception to explain that our breakfast experience had not been as they wish to provide!!! Reception apologised and they gifted us a bottle of wine to make it up. Pure class and thoughtfulness. Thank you Terra Dominicata.

We enjoyed every moment of our stay and did not want to leave. The hotel is beautifully built, integrating perfectly into the larger landscape. The rooms are well sized and outfitted with everything you need to relax. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We also loved the on site wine tasting. It was a great introduction to Priorat and we appreciated the attention to detail, to include the high end glassware.

We booked a suite, which was very spacious. However, there is no view and if we left our curtains open we were exposed to anyone walking by. There was either privacy or daylight. We would have expected a much nicer outlook given the money it costs, and the beautiful location. It seems this is a poor design aspect without the enjoyment of guest in mind. The rest of the property is lovely, a nice terrace to enjoy the view and the food at the restaurant was always very nice and well presented. There were times we had to look for staff when wanting a drink so I don’t think the service is quite up to the prices charged at this stage.
