Rkpo Green Resort

While this hotel is on the older side, it is absolutely splendid: our favorite after two weeks in Bhutan. We loved the gardens, which are expertly manicured, and Punakha has so much to recommend it. The room was very large and spacious with a beautiful bay window where I sat and read each morning. The bed was comfortable and the meals were pleasant in a large open dining room. WiFi was fast and reliable. Staff can't do enough nice things for guests. We also enjoyed lovely walks into town from a path just opposite the hotel driveway; those walks will stay with us for a long time!

March 2025 - Exceeded our expectations! Stay here one night only on tour group, so we never know what to expect. Very impressed with this property. Our room was very spacious, very clean and well maintained, huge bathroom with tub & shower separate. Nice bath amenities! Front deck staff efficient, we enjoyed drinks in the bar (nice views of area from bar terrace), buffet dinner and breakfast. Friendly and efficient servers at meals. Food quality and selections above average. Walkable to the Mad Monk Temple and tourist shops down the hill. Told the tour operator I wished we stayed more than one night!

I had done a reservation through my Bhutan tour operator for stay in this resort for the night of 04 Jun 2024 in RKPO Green Resort Punakha, Bhutan. My booking reference 2024050109 of 18 May 2024. The check in time given by hotel was 12 noon. I went with my family for check in at 1.30 pm but was told by hotel staff to wait for sometime as rooms were not ready. Then I went for Lunch in a restaurant in front of this hotel and came back at 2.30!and still rooms were not ready and the reception staff had no reasonable answer. They said heavy rush last night and late check out so delay and did nothing to hurry up and we were stranded with them. Nobody from management responded and I had ask my Tour operator to book a hotel in Thimphu and we had to move back to Thimphu. We had to pay extra for accomodation at Thimpu and the hotel neither refunded my reservation money nor gave me the rooms even after two and half hours past check in time. It was a terrible experience in otherwise most memorable trip in Bhutan. The hotel looks good but is located slightly away from Punakha and the behaviour of management was definitely most astonishing. Bad experience in a beautiful Country with marvelous people. I had written a mail to their contact info at reservations as there is no other contact available on site for feedback. The reservations just responded with an apology but no refund of money despite complete fault of hotel. I had to spend extra money for no fault of mine. Don't wish to book with them again

Secnic location with a view of the valley to die for. Rooms give a refreshing and Panaromic view of the natural landscape Food at restaurant is very good and catered to Indian vegetarian cuisine Rooms are spacious and well furnished Lastly very courteous staff which makes your stay extra comfortable

The hotel is located in such good location , but the service is so poor. The food served both in dinner and breakfast was horrible, absolutely not edible undercooked tasteless food . In the mist of adapting the western culture they have lost the local touch at the end not able to serve western or Indian food of decent quality and not serving the local food at all which I assume they should be better at . Please improve the quality of your food and service.

We had booked this hotel via our travel agent as a part of the tour package. There were limited options for Punakha and this had reasonable reviews. What we liked: Good location. Check in and checkout were quite fast. Connecting rooms were provided though not requested so added a bonus point for this! Staff is polite and helpful Property is clean Food is good. As it was off season and hardly any other guests, as we had breakfast & dinner in our package, we were provided with an option to select anything from the menu as there was no buffet. Food was tasty. Thanks to the chef who provided good food, we rated this resort higher. Its walking distance from Chimi Lhakhang if we walk through the fields Has great views of the valley What we did not like: Rooms have creaky wooden boards Property looks a bit dated Room heating could be improved a bit and bathrooms are quite chilly Water heating & water supply needs improvement Lastly, a point which caused us to remove a point from our review was that we had booked two rooms and one of the occupant was not well. So both days she hardly had anything for breakfast or dinner. To avoid food wastage we had even asked the restaurant staff accordingly and had limited food. But as the person was not well had asked for a couple of fruits like apple or orange, as the person was not in a position to even travel. So the hotel charged us even for that. Though we did not mind paying, as we have traveled many locations, first time saw a hotel charging and usually many hotels provide a fruit basket if requested without any charges.
