Serenade Punta Cana Beach & Spa Resort

Beautiful place to stay, but the service in front desk is not friendly, the guys who work there don’t have a good service attitude, I got a really bad time trying to get check out lat because my flight was delayed and we needed a place to stay, definitely I think this hotel has many good things except the front desk staff

I don't want to be too negative, because in the end, my family had a wonderful Spring vacation in Punta Cana. Our room was spacious and the buffet restaurant was good with plenty of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The resort was also very accommodating to kids. However, there is construction on one side of the resort which is separated by a bamboo fence and there is sewer water running under the bamboo, causing the entire side of the resort to smell like sewer water. It was really bad. The front desk appeared to be understaffed and phone calls to them were often unanswered. During our stay the internet went out for approximately 24 hrs and the staff couldn't provide any updates or estimated time the situation would resolve. We ate 2 nights at the a-la-carte restaurants, but the service was too slow, especially with little kids, and orders ended up wrong or missing altogether. After the second disappointing night we agreed to go to the buffet each night for dinner. Fortunately, there was enough variety to keep things enjoyable there. The general consensus, in talking to other guest, was that everyone felt it was a very "affordable" resort. Given the price, I'm not overly disappointed with the experience, but we won't be returning.

Unorganized! Some of the staff had nasty attitudes like they didn't want to work there and made their issues our concern. The staff that was supposed to help with dinner reservations were less than helpful. We had to get managers involved more than once because of their attitudes. I can say cleaning staff were delightful and did their very best. Bar staff was amazing! Entertainment staff amazing! If it wasn't for the very few from these staff, it would have been a horrible trip!

Room was clean and upgraded from what was booked. So ended up with super large balcony view of pool and ocean. Only ate at the buffet and was good variety. If you are planning on beach chairs get there super early as people start holding/saving chairs as early as 8 and don’t even show up until after 11am. Plenty of chairs available after 3pm. There was seaweed on beach and water however crews were out cleaning it. Water was refreshing. Drinks were great. Pools still had plenty of room for you to swim and enjoy. Biggest pet peeve was we were there for a quick weekend get away to relax and kept getting solicited by vacation package people, spa, excursions and guys on beach.

I had high hopes for The Serenade based on recent reviews of the resort. The positives: property is well maintained and the resort is beautifully designed, with ample indoor and outdoor seating. The shows were fun and entertaining! The negatives: food was disappointing in all aspects at both the buffet and restaurants. The meat was consistently undercooked (if not raw) or overly well done. Several people we met at the resort were ill with food poisoning. DO NOT eat the paella, stews, etc. prepared in the large pan on the beach. The chicken and meat in the stew were raw and they served it without using a food thermometer to check the temp. I ordered the beef tenderloin at the Italian restaurant medium rare. It was a 2-inch beautiful cut of meat that came out blue and was clearly seared on each side for 1-2 minutes. After your meat dishes are served at any restaurant (The Cut, Bellum, or Olivo) do not expect anybody to check on your dish or observe you aren't eating your meal. You can expect to be sitting with a mooing steak for 30 minutes before you can flag a server down. To say the service at the restaurants, buffet, pool bars, and front desk is lacking is an understatement. The staff largely appear inconvenienced and make you feel like a burden even when speaking to them in Spanish. Big shout out to Wilfredo and team in the Lobby Bar! They make incredible cocktails and don't rush no matter how busy they get. Housekeeping staff was also attentive and sweet.

Staff were not helpful, felt like you were bothering them. Door didn’t lock at all- called twice and never came. Flies in the bathroom the entire week. Sewer smell throughout the resort all day long. Buffet was not impressive. The fine dining options were worse than the buffet. Drinks were sugary cheap options nothing was good. The only positive were the bartenders at the pools- they were friendly.

This resort totally met our expectations! It is exceptionally maintained, clean, and beautiful! The rooms have very comfortable beds, and are kept in excellent condition. Our kids loved the water parks, and being picky eaters, they found a wide assortment of food choices at the buffet. The a la cart restaurants are amazing (our favourite being The Chop), and once we got the hang of how reservations were made effectively (making reservations at 6:30 am), we were pros! There is ample pool space, and the water is warm. Great beach too with many cabanas. The entertainment staff are the most friendly of all of the staff. We were never hounded by staff about “time shares” or buying into extras. I would certainly recommend this resort, and would return again!
