High Greenside Farmhouse B&B

This might work for a walker with a backpack who is looking for shelter and running water. The farmhouse is far away from the Kirkby Stephen train station, and requires transportation. Once there, no one was able to help to get luggage upstairs. The room itself was too small to open luggage. The farmhouse is part of a working sheep farm, which requires walking down a road and driveway with sheep manure all around, unless one is in a vehicle.

Lovely location on a working sheep farm, near Ravenstonedale. The village is walking distance with two good pubs. Cosy room, good shower and breakfast. The location is also ideal for walkers of all abilities. Good tourist attractions nearby.

We stayed at High Greenside B&B while walking Coast to Coast with Contours. Very comfortable accommodation, bedroom with ensuite, very quiet rural location. No noise. Friendly hostess. Great breakfast. Easy walking distance to Kings Head pub. Good packed lunches available.

Not our first visit, we return often because it’s a place where you can really switch off and totally relax. Dark skies, comfy bed, SUPERB breakfast and a very hospitable host. No doubt we shall return in 2024.

We stayed here for 3 nights as the first part of our tour of Yorkshire and Northumberland. On arrival our first thoughts were that the farmhouse was in an idyllic and peaceful setting, with lovely views of the surrounding hills. Infact our only neighbours were sheep even in the garden behind our family room. Unfortunately, when shown to our room the outside area infront was very messy with children’s toys strewn around. In addition, there was a stripped down dumped car with several bits missing. We were told by Angela this was on a neighbours property. The positives were: Very welcoming hostess Angela. Comfy bed. Excellent full English breakfast. Lovely area to explore. Negatives: Scruffy outside areas. There were two of us in a family room, it would have been extremely tight for 4 people. Lack of storage area in the main bedroom. Room was tired & decoration needed. We thought the room was expensive for what we paid. Our room was not cleaned throughout our stay. We did mention this to Angela & it is not their policy to go into peoples rooms (we would like to have been advised at the outset). Our summary is that this farmhouse is in a beautiful location ,and if the improvements mentioned above were actioned, this would be a lovely place to stay.

On arrival was greeted with very untidy outside area there was a scrap car in the yard,very dangerous in my opinion. Things did not get any better when shown thr dinning area the tables and chairs were tatty to say the least.our twin room in the annex was tiny and scruffy in appearance.The bathroom I personally would not feel comfortable using. We were beyond disappointed.we felt so unhappy we voiced our concerns and did not even stay.
