Hotel Residence Sciaron

Having read reviews before booking we were very disappointed at our experience. The food was not of a good quality and the staff were slow to top up. Hygiene was lax. Parents allowed young children to touch or put back things they had handled. A girl of approx 10 yrs was sneezing at the breakfast buffet and although she put her hand over her nose she then used this hand to use the utensils. At the pool bar a man put his bare feet on the table (not coffee table) and then walked to the toilet (barefoot) , on his return he again put his feet on the table. I told the barman who said 'English' and then carried on without asking the man to put his feet down. I also saw a member of the kitchen Kitchen staff emerge from the toilet cubicle and return to kitchen without washing his hands. Our room was in need of repairs and there was a large burn mark on a bedside table. The bed and towels were changed regulary and the bed was comfortable. We asked for an alarm call which never happened, luckily I awoke in time. We went with TUI and feel they are allocated substandard rooms. Apart from the pool and views I cannot recommend this hotel.

Breakfast is repetitive and offers limited variety.The croissants are delicious.During breakfast, you can freshly squeeze orange juice; however, be sure to check if there are any worms in the juice. When I reported this to the staff, their response was simply: "orange bio."During lunch and dinner, all drinks are at an extra cost (including water).Meals must be chosen from a fixed menu, but the food is tasty.There are always sunbeds available by the pool.Rooms are cleaned daily. The mini fridge costs €5 per day.A hotel shuttle takes guests to the beach every 30 minutes, except during siesta hours.

A quiet, peaceful location and hotel. Check-in was fast and efficient, The reception staff were always helpful and friendly. Our room was in the main hotel building. It was compact but functional. The bathroom was tiny but again functional. Our balcony was miniscule but had a great view. The gardens were well maintained, and there were plenty of seating areas. The pool was clean, as was the surrounding patio area. There was a shuttle bus to the private hotel beach, which ran half hourly in the morning to the beach and half hourly from 15.00 from the beach. The dining room was large, and the waiting staff were efficient. At breakfast, we were required to pick the food and drink we wanted for dinner that evening. As for the food, there was a buffet breakfast with plenty of choices, including a couple of hot dishes. Again, at evening dinner, there was a buffet to start. However, if you arrived late, most of the food had already been taken and not replenished. Portions were small. For example, one evening, the main course was chicken, which turned out to be 2 chicken legs in a sauce, no potato, pasta. You could go to the buffet and get salad if anything left! If you did not like the choice of food on offer, you could order pizza at an additional cost from the hotel pizzeria. Pizzas and other snacks were available to order from the bar at lunchtime and evening. There was a reasonable selection of wines, beers, etc. available. One highlight was the guy who made the pizzas. He was always singing (not always in tune) and joking, a real character. Every other evening, there was entertainment, mostly karaoke/ disco, which was nice.

Had an excellent week at the resort. The bar staff were brilliant. They remembered who you were everytime you wet to the bar. The shuttle to the beach and to Tropea was excellent. Everyone was friendly. The only downside was the cat incident. The night after the kitten was kicked over the fence and down the hill, the staff were demonstrating to each over and laughing about it. As a family hotel this is not what you would expect. And causing upset.

This is a beautiful hotel with very well-kept gardens. The food is excellent and there is a wonderful vegetable buffet every evening as well as a main meal of 3 courses. The pool is very clean and spacious. Unfortunately, the hotel does not run shuttle buses to the nearby town during the day, and it is a 35-minute walk to and from the train station in extremely blazing heat, so unless you want to go to the beach, there is no opportunity to leave the hotel site. The hotel does run shuttle buses for free to the beach.I wanted to visit Tropea for postcards and souvenirs. The hotel does run buses in the evening, but that is peak mosquito time. The reason given was that the hotel does not have enough staff to run buses during the day. I was offered the option of taking a taxi, but this would have been too expensive as a solo traveller.

Lovely hotel.. the pictures on here do not do it justice!… when we first arrived we were a bit nervous as our driver dumped us at the bottom of the driveway and it’s an uphill walk, the room was dated but had everything we needed, although I wasn’t sure about the hairdryer ( definitely take your own😂). The housekeeping staff attended the room everyday it was spotless and changed towels. Food amazing although catering for mainly Italians it was a bit confusing at first for us uncultured brits😂😂😂. It’s very hilly so I wouldn’t recommend if u struggle with walking ( but the whole area is like this). But the views amazing and calm . A wonderful relaxing holiday but everything is a car journey away even the beach ( hotel do a shuttle bus). My only gripe was we booked with hotel to meet friends in the local town and was told by hotel staff it was 10 euros each. When we went to go as we were the only passengers we were charged 25 euros each. If had known this we would have gone up the road and caught the bus!! Definitely a undiscovered gem but take walking shoes😂😂fab holiday
