Room Inn Vatican

Good points - The location is good The room we stayed in was a decent size Bad points - The room we stayed in was located in the 6th floor. Quite often the lift didn’t work and after walking for hours round the city the last thing you want to do is climb 6 flights of stairs on a very hot day!! Would not recommend this place if you are disabled or struggle to walk as the lift is so temperamental!! The room we stayed in had a musty smell from the bathroom, like bad drains or something. We left the windows open most days to try and get rid of the smell. The fridge that was supplied in the room was dirty inside and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. It put us off using it to store food or drinks in. The small corridor where the rooms are based is quite noisy as all the rooms are very close to each other. Hard to sleep when you can hear constant doors banging, laughing and loud talking either first thing in the morning or at night. The check-in is rather odd as we never saw any reception staff. They communicate entirely through WhatsApp?? Also the cleaners would knock on our door most mornings and wake us up to take clean laundry or towels out of our room to clean the other guest rooms as they appeared to store these things in a cupboard in our room - rather annoying being woken up every morning! Also when we informed staff about the lift appearing to be broke a lot and they brushed it off like it wasn’t a big deal. Staff and management who work here do not take criticism well and do not appear to like when you point these issues out and get quite hostile. We spoke to another couple who were staying in the room next door to us and they also said staff were rude to them when they raised issues about their room having a bad smell. Management tend to take the stance that it’s the “guests fault” and proceed to say “well nobody else has complained about it”… errr, yes they did!!! Won’t stay here again.
