HM Mar Blau

We are not normally people to complain, but this hotel was very poor considering it was supposedly a 4*. I would push at a 3*. During our 7 night stay, we had 3 room changes and numerous rude interactions with the staff at reception, particularly Sergi who was very rude and not helpful. We booked a studio and were given 2 ground floor rooms (which wasn’t the problem). But it became evident very quickly that there was a clear ant infestation as both rooms we were given on ground floor were covered with thousands of ants. The first room we were given had a broken lock on the back door which also disabled the air conditioning from working, alongside damaged bedside and kitchen cabinets. We were told the maintenance team would be there in 10 minutes to fix the door, but 3 hours later nobody had arrived. We requested a room change as we didn’t feel safe leaving the room and all our belongings in an unlockable room which was accessible from the balcony. We were moved to another ground floor studio which was mouldy and also infested with ants. We tolerated the ants outdoors as there is nothing we could do about that, but it became a problem when they started invading the room and covering all of our clothes and belongings. This is where the staff became very rude and told us that “we are on an island with ants and mosquitos so there is nothing we can do”. Whilst the ants and mosquitos did not bother us, it became a problem when they were uncontrollably entering the room from the balcony even when the doors were shut. When I went to reception, reluctantly we were given a bottle of bug spray to spray around the balcony door and inside the room which killed the ants in the room but didn’t stop them from entering. We went back to reception the next day and asked for a room off the ground floor as the ants were clearly a ground floor issue, but we were offered a third ground floor flat, and at this point we had learnt our lesson to check the room before moving in and yet again this third room was also infested with ants both on the balcony and in the room itself. We refused the room and finally got a room on the second floor and there was not an ant in sight. Not only did we not have an ant infestation, the cleaners also made more of an effort. Whilst on the ground floor, cleaners only changed the bathroom towels and didn’t make the bed or clean anything, but in our second floor room our bed was made, towels changed, room cleaned, glass on balcony wiped and even swept the floors. It looks like the more money you pay for the room the more effort the cleaners put in which is appalling. If the cleaners made more effort on the ground floor rooms, maybe the ants wouldn’t be such a problem? Throughout my stay, I spoke to multiple other people who were staying in a ground floor room and also had issues with ants. Consequently, the staff should be more approachable and understanding when dealing with these complaints as it is clearly a hotel issue. Ove

Check in was smooth with no problem. The room was ok nothing special but adequate for what we needed. Could do with updating. We went self catering so can't comment on all inclusive food but we bought food from the bar and it was outstanding with proper fresh chips and the fresh fruit bowl was big enough for 2. We seen the all inclusive snacks on offer and they didn't look as appealing as the food we bought. You had to buy a plastic cup for €1 if you were sitting around the pool which I thought was a good idea as there were no empty cups lying about everywhere. The beer was €4.40 for a large or €3.40 for a small one so I went to the on site supermarket for a can of san Miguel for €1.30. The supermarket was well stocked and reasonably priced. The pool area was good and there were plenty of loungers available. The poolside entertainment was repetitive but we did stay for 10 nights. We didn't watch the evening entertainment as we were self catering we went out and about every night. There are 4 resorts close either a walk or taxi away. We hired bikes and did all 4 in a day. You could get room/towel and bed sheets changed every day if you left the notice on your door. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall a good stay at mar blau.

Dirty room an arrival, dirty pool side everyday. Wasps and ants everywhere. We even had a wasps nest on our balcony and nothing was done to remove it. We complained and got nothing back, very unhelpful staff. Bar staff are terrible and only care about the local people and all inclusive guests. We stayed self catering and would at least expect and oven and microwave to cook with, neither were provided, just a small 2 ring hob that took 30 minutes to get hot. Tiny fridge with small freezer space. We complained again, and nothing was done. We spent more time away from the hotel as we wanted to enjoy our holiday, which we did, but at the cost of £1200 in spending money for a 6 night stay. We stayed 10 nights in Gran Canaria, self catering, and spent less, because we had decent facilities and could cook breakfast, lunch and evening meals. Here at HM Hotel we couldn't cook anything and the local shop provided nothing but items that needed cooking, so we had no choice but to eat out everyday. They only care about the all inclusive guest, especially the local guest. The bar service was terrible, always served locals first, even if we had queued first. We love Majorca but you couldn't pay me to stay here again. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY...

All staff were very friendly from when we checked in until check out. Any problems or questions you could ask them easily and they were very knowledgeable and understood english. We rented bikes twice at €11 per bike per day from the hotel and they were really good. You can easily walk everywhere you need to get to in 20 minutes and you can get to both calla millor and sa coma. All the services were really good and the breakfast was amazing and suitable to all different people. Amazing stay and would definitely love to come again in the future.

Friendly service. Hotel in a nice location, close to a forest area. Convenient distance to the beach. Minus the activities held by the pool in the evenings, far too loud.

The hotel is generally okay but needs an update. There were bird droppings around areas of the pool that were left throughout our 7 day holiday. The food is okay but was often only luke warm.
