L'Escale de Broglie

Needing a stop-off between Calais and the Atlantic coast, Broglie, not far from the A28 motorway, fitted the bill. The building is an 18th century town house, converted to a hotel last year. Beautifully done by an interior decorator and his partner, it has a small number of large en-suite bedrooms, with modern rather than antique furniture. The restaurant was an even newer venture, open for only a week, and still finding its feet. Very welcoming couple who upgraded us without charge to a more expensive cooler room on a very hot night. Excellent breakfast. A place to return to when we make the same journey.

A wonderful little boutique hotel for a one night stay whilst travelling. It’s charming, has an excellent restaurant and the family suite was brilliant value. The staff we just lovely too. Having a small pool to cool off in at the end of a long day was ideal.

We had an overnight stay here last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room on the second floor was very large,beautifully decorated with ensuite to match. There was an attractive swimming pool available for guests and a lovely conservatory restaurant. Outside tables for meals too. The owner Ingrid welcomed us with the offer of coffee or tea - she speaks English and was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We ate in the restaurant in the evening. Very good food, three courses for 28 euros. Drank Grimberger beer for the first time and it won’t be the last ! Would highly recommend and could not fault it at all. Many thanks Ingrid .
