Hôtel le Saint Remy & Spa

We enjoyed 4 great nights at the hotel as a family of four with our 2 daughters: The family suite is an excellent room for 4 persons, 1 room for parents and separate room with 2 individual beds, awesome bathroom with great shower and separate bath-tub, excellent beds and morning & evening service - cozy patio with outdoor lounge and separate area with pool - we used the parking at the hotel which we recommend - all in all a highly recommendable hotel right at the entry of the old town, no car needed!

We went for a celebratory family meal with 3 generations including 6 children. The setting is lovely and the food-when it arrived-was ok. However the service was apalling. We waited 90 minutes for the children’s food, despite several pleas to ask them to bring it asap. It eventually arrived at 10pn. We were one of only two tables eating so the restaurant wasn’t busy. Similarly we waited half an hour for our wine to arrive and constantly were without water. Attempting to get help from a waiter was nearly impossible. There was no apology, in fact no one seemed to care. We would not go back.

Le Saint-Remy is a very pretty hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. It is in an excellent location for exploring the town of Saint-Remy. The courtyard is fantastic with comfortable seating of every type. The outdoor pool has very comfortable sun beds as well as beautiful places for relaxing in the shade. There is an indoor pool which we did not use, but I did get a massage at the spa which was great. Wifi is very fast. In the room there is good closet space and the bathroom has great products including a Dyson hairdryer. My only complaint was with the terrace off our room. We booked a superior room with a terrace, which are rooms 1-6 on the ground floor. Our room was pretty small (especially since it was room 1 which was smaller than rooms 2-6), and the terraces for the 6 rooms on that hallway are very small spaces next to the main courtyard. Each private terrace is screened in, but you sort of feel like you’re in a cage. There was no need to book the terrace room given the lovely seating options in the main courtyard. My advice would be to either save a bit of money and book a superior room without a terrace, or spend a bit more money and get a larger room again without a terrace because you don’t need a private terrace with the lovely common space in the hotel. In any case, we loved this hotel and would definitely return.

Great location, lovely room and bathroom, good facilities. For me not quite 5* as the whole experience felt “corporate”. We also had an incredibly bad - and expensive - meal in the restaurant. I ordered a fillet steak, medium rare and got a hard, charred inedible lump of meat. The hotel explained that it’s impossible to cook a steak medium rare so they gave me this one! Go, enjoy the stay, avoid the restaurant - there are many excellent ones on the doorstep.

A first class hotel with excellent, attentive service My only complaint would be breakfast. We went down to get a coffee and croissant and the bill was 70 euros. Maybe our mistake for not asking but we were not informed

We dined at the restaurant which was definitely not 5 star level. Amuse bouche delicious. Pea vichyssoise contained bottarga which gave it a very unpleasant taste - the bottarga was not included in the description on the menu. Tuna tataki and lobster starters were extremely poor. Main course of beef was so tough that it was inedible. A problem with lights flashing on an off and ABBA playing did not enhance the dining experience. Sadly a totally forgettable meal which will not be repeated. 5 star prices for 2/3 star food and ambiance.

Definitely not 5 star. 2.5 at best. The staff, and most of all the owner, need to go stay at a Four Seasons for at least 1 night to see what they are missing. They've a lot to learn. An owner, who was ever present, never even said hello. The "villa", is no villa at all. Rather a small older building with one bedroom, kitchen, dining, and living room, with two much newer outbuildings attached to it with bedrooms and pool. It's main living area is in glass off the kitchen, between the three buildings. They should call it "the annex" instead of the villa, as it is behind the hotel and awkward.

Wow. Just wow. My partner and I recently returned from an amazing 4 day stay at Le Saint Remy hotel in St. Remy, Provence, France after an action packed week in Paris. From pre-visit requests to arranging drivers, restaurant, spa and other reservations to the on-site service and facilities, our experience was truly excellent. The location is superb. You can literally walk a few hundred yards to several restaurants, the Van Gogh trail and into the charming town. The hotel's restaurant, main bar and rooftop terrace bar were great. Both the indoor and outdoor pools as well as the hammam, spa and grounds were exceptionally clean and inviting. Our suite with balcony was perfect. Most importantly the STAFF - from the driver to the front desk to ALL servers - were truly memorable! To the extent you wanted to engage, they were exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable and endearing. We have been fortunate to have stayed in a number of 5 star hotels in the world. Hotel Le St Remy deserves it's stars!

This is a 5 star resort so admittedly, we had high expectations. The devil is certainly in the details and this hotel needs to upgrade its standards to meet the typical 5 star expectation. In the end we found ourselves focused on the miss of small details that would have really made our stay excellent. The positives: The rooms are beautiful. We loved the spacious bathroom (did the premiere room w bath and shower). They have Dyson hairdryers. The products they use are excellent. The outdoor courtyard area is beautiful as is the pool and rooftop. The staff are amazingly helpful and friendly. The spa is wonderful, highly recommend taking advantage of the amenities there including a massage, heated pool, gym, and steam room. Lastly, the location is perfect. For the four star review, there were several things that could be improved: 1. You are not able to control the temperature during the day (it’s locked) and it won’t go below 19. At night, it gets warm as the duvet they have is very thick. We ended up taking it out of the cover and just sleeping with the sheets and the window open. 2. Our room was facing the street which was the center of the town. So naturally there will be noise with windows open. Just something to consider when getting a room. 3. Things were not restocked daily. For example, the shampoo is on the wall and was empty. The milk used for coffee wasn’t replaced both mornings we were there. I used an espresso glass and took it downstairs as we were running out the door and it wasn’t replaced. 4. Wi-Fi coverage is slow and shotty. 5. This is nit picky but no streaming option so prepare (if you even need it) for the TV to be cable. 6. Probably the worst thing was that we looked forward to sitting outside w charcuterie and wine from our day in Chateauneuf du Papes. They wanted to charge a 35euro corking fee just to sit in the courtyard. It wasn’t busy and there are no other areas to enjoy outside (for whatever reason the roof wasn’t accessible via elevator but we used the back stairs. Not sure if we would have been allowed to or not but it was a nice way to get outside). So you may want to upgrade to a room with a patio. That being said, to have to upgrade for outdoor space at the price point we paid (in the end almost 800/night) is a bit excessive. This was probably our biggest disappointment. Again, with a five star rating, you come in with expectations and we were disappointed with things noted above. That being said, we loved our time in Saint Remy. With a few changes, this hotel can certainly be the five star rating it has.
