Built in the 1970s, the A-Frame sits in the center of Pinecrest Retreat a vintage trailer park established in 1961. Pinecrest Retreat is located on 80 acres and is home to 140 trailers, a hiking trail, and a junior Olympic size pool opened seasonally (Memorial Day weekend till the end of September). Owners of these trailers cannot live on site but have access to their trailers as a weekend getaway spot. Pinecrest Retreat is about four miles from town and four miles from Lake Cuyamaca.The A-Frame features a 360-square foot cathedral ceilinged open space with a sitting and dining area. A kitchen with refrigerator/freezer, gas stove & oven, sink, coffee maker, plates & utensils and most of the basics. The A-Frame has a bedroom downstairs with a queen size bed (with twin size trundle in the closet), a full bath, and an open loft upstairs with a king size bed and balcony. We supply fresh linens, blankets, and bath towels. The A-Frame also comes with a stereo and WIFI but no television is provided. In addition, there are bobcat, marmots, raccoons, and foxes. There are mountain lions that live in these mountains because they feed on the deer herds. For this reason, It is best to be practical when hiking and do not travel alone and do not permit children to wander by themselves on the mountain trails. The Cuyamacas are an area of incredible beauty but it is a wilderness that is home to various animals. There are birds of every kind that surround you including, Hawks and various raptors, Woodpeckers, Jays, Canadian Geese, Loons to name a few. Bird feeders are installed for close up viewing. These feeders are on telescopic poles so that our guests can view nature at eye level. There are also a pair of Bald Eagles that live in the trees near the lake. It is a special treat to see and hear the Bald Eagles chirping while they soar over the lake.The back country night sky is something that must be seen any time of the year but especially during the meteor showers. Often times, we bring out the Celestron telescope for that.For more leisurely pursuits, you can go to the old gold-mining town of Julian, about 9 miles up the road. Once there, you can peruse quaint shops, visit the winery, go on gold mine tours, stop by the soda fountain, or indulge in fine or casual dining. Of course, Julian is best known for home-made Apple Pie and you have your choice of several tasty pie making bakeries. But we know where the absolute best one is and we gladly share the location with our guests. Sleeping 8 comfortably (and 1 more on the couch if you want!). The kitchen is large and great for cooking. This cabin is perfect for families or groups of friends. Enjoy the convenience of 3 bathrooms (2 full and one with a dry sauna, shower, and a large bathtub). Stay connected with WiFi, watch tv, stay comfortable with heating and AC, and take care of laundry with a washing machine. Iron out any wrinkles before heading out to explore the fabulous surroundings which include a charming downtown area and local hiking trails. This is such a special place. Nestled in majestic oaks, our house sits just off the main road in a secluded hillside with views to the mountains. City lights can be seen from both the downstairs porch and upstairs living room. This is a family-friendly, dog-friendly cabin. It’s perfect for people who want to chill and not worry if someone puts their feet up on the coffee table. The house is fully prepared for people traveling as a family or a group, and with dogs. The kitchen is stocked with all the cooking essentials except the actual food although there is a good amount of condiments in the fridge and dry food in the pantry . We have plastic dinnerware for kids. Some spices are stocked in the cabinets. Dog bowls, treats, and other supplies in pantry. There is a dedicated kids' room with age-appropriate toys, a train table, farmers market stand with play food, kid-sized table and chairs, dollhouse, and a TV monitor with Apple TV and DVD player. I’m in the process of replacing the floors, the flooring at the stair landing is uneven bc I have the flooring under the carpet. UNTIL WE REPLACE THE BALCONY DECK please do not use. I’ve moved the furniture to the back deck where the fire pit and BBQ areTHE AREA- This place IS truly a beautiful and magical spot where wildlife is attracted to our front door. Do you enjoy tasting rooms, healthy and delicious food and music? This comfortable 1940's era loft is located next to Julian Station. The Station features Colt's Burger Bar (grass-fed burgers with no hormones or antibiotics), 3 unique tasting rooms (hard cider, wine & chocolate, beer) and 5 fun shops and a gorgeous scenic back patio. The Loft is private and peaceful but still conveniently located just above Julian Station for an exciting, fun and easy stay. Although we have live music during the day and several tasting rooms, The Loft is private. Our place is very family oriented and things usually wind down around 7 pm (which is later than most places in Julian!). The Craft Beer Tap & Tasting room is open until around 8 pm but you won't hear anything from The Loft. We are adjacent to Highway 78 and a peaceful rural dirt road named Orchard Lane which offers scenic strolls and amazing views. We are also in walking distance from many other attractions in the Wynola area of Julian including restaurants, gold panning, a petting zoo and pumpkin patch, hay rides, 2 pie shops and 2 antique malls.
