The host is great, the breakfast that served was wonderful.

The view is breathtaking, the bed comfortable and excellent pillows, the best on our trip so far. Your hosts could not be more helpful. We arrived on cycles which they were happy to accommodate. Breakfast was fresh with lovely orange juice and freshly cooked local eggs. This village is amazing.The castle needs to be fully explored.

Cute inn located in Marvao, an ancient fortified village perched atop a hill. Inviting public areas include a common lounge area with complementary port wine and a veranda with a beautiful view of the valley to the west (great for sunsets). Helpful and friendly host. Breakfast is included; you choose from a list of options the night before. Very convenient parking adjacent to the hotel, (once you enter the city gate, it's relatively easy to reach the hotel by car if you just follow the inside of the city wall). Good a/c. Free WiFi, though the signal inside the room was sometimes weak. Nice-sized bathroom, though towels were a little rough. There were several pillows, but I found them either too hard or too soft for my neck. I feel that the room could also benefit from additional lighting.

This was our second visit here.The Casa is a traditional Portuguese style home.The owners are very welcoming and friendly-they cannot do too much for you.The rooms are clean,the beds comfortable and the bathrooms have plenty of hot water.Breakfasts are enormous and the scrambled eggs fantastic.Will definitely return.

Lovely old hilltop house with really friendly and helpful owners, although they don’t speak much English so conversing is tricky! Beautifully looked after and clean with a large lounge area which you can use to relax and a terrace overlooking the valley, what a view! We received a welcome glass of port and the breakfast was substantial and delicious. Parking is outside the house and requires nerves of steel to navigate the narrow cobbled lanes around the inside of the walls to the top! It’s very near the castle which is well worth exploring and has nice gardens for a picnic. You can explore the whole town on foot and a day is more than enough so if you stay 2 nights you have time to relax. There are a few restaurants and cafes in the area but some of them get booked up so it’s worth reserving. Marvao is not as much off the beaten track as the guide books would have you believe. My only gripes are that (1) the house is quite echoey inside and people coming in late can disturb the whole building, and I could hear the man next door snoring quite clearly which is a shame because it’s otherwise so peaceful here at night and (2) the lighting is quite dim, not good for older eyes reading.

A wonderful experience at this quaint inn with views. The shared living space has a terrace with amazing views. It is a great place for sipping some complimentary port on a starry night. The hosts are warm and welcoming, and their location within the Castle of Marvão is ideal just steps from the castle grounds and restaurants. In the morning, we went off to explore after a hot breakfast of eggs, fruit, and toast beautifully served on china with a view. We will stay again for the view off the terrace. PS be sure to arrive before sunset as driving through the town is tight. Stay close to the wall while going to the inn.

We stayed at this hotel for one night. Sufficient to explore Marvão. The hotel is located about 200m from Marvao castle, getting there by car was adventure due to the narrow old town roads. My car was sounding alarm frequently... The hotel is small, nice rooms and an excellent breakfast. The owners are very nice and helpful. Highly recommended stay.

Very beautiful, clean and loved the port for guests

Só tenho coisas boas a dizer desta estadia,os anfitriões Sr Joaquim e a esposa são de uma simpatia gigante,fizeram-me sentir como se estivesse em casa.O quarto era muito bom,o pequeno almoço excelente e de qualidade.Claro que a vista do local completou o que já era perfeito. Adoramos e prometemos voltar!
