Overall a disappointing stay. Serious price gouging by ******* over UCLA graduation weekend made the pricing for this very mid-range hotel $700/night! Should have been no more than $250/night. $25/night for parking felt steep as well. Management/leadership was seriously lacking, front desk staff was overwhelmed and inexperienced (but very friendly!). Breakfast was terrible as far as service and quality of food (due to lack of staff, they pulled housecleaners in to take orders and serve food, which was NOT a good scene -but not the fault of the staff; reception folks also had to take orders). The following morning we went to Tartine across the street and it was AMAZING (proximity to Tartine was the best part of our stay). You have to ask for housekeeping, otherwise you don't get it (WHY? Covid concerns were clearly not a factor, as no one is masked anymore). Room was, however, very clean upon arrival.
Complimentary chocolate truffles were delicious. Tub was super slippery and there should have been a non-slip mat provided. Water pressure was mediocre. Hotel is quiet, sound proofing was good. Plenty of room to unpack clothes, and a mini fridge in the room. Walking distance to restaurants, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's. If I hadn't had to pay a small fortune, this review might have been better. But the poor staffing was truly an issue - I know it's hard everywhere and I hope they can hire more staff soon
