Palihouse Santa Monica

We just traveling to Santa Monica to visit family and my son suggested the Palihouse. The staff was very friendly especially Jacklyn who doubled as front desk and waitress, and Gavin. They were responsive to all our needs. Our room was next to the lobby. my wife wanted to be on first floor. In the morning I used the cozy lobby to catch up on emails. Wireless worked well. Coffee is complentary and will make your hairstand up.!The breakfast burrito was excellent and enough for 2 people. They should add oatmeal to the menu. The grounds are very nice. Bed was comfortable. I think I would like a bit larger room. The bathroom was old style but everything worked. located in a nice neighborhood within walking distance of stores. Fast Uber response. Price lower compared to more modern hotels. We would return

Nice hotel in Santa Monica. Old hotel vibes, huge room. The elevator is one of the oldest we have seen, still functional. The bed mattress and pillows need to be replaced. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Walkable to restaurants, farmer’s market and Santa Monica pier.

The staff at Palihouse Santa Monica during our stay in October 2024 was very accommodating; starting with the valet upon our arrival, to check in, to Barrett, the evening concierge. He went above and beyond to make us comfortable. He is a keeper…

my family lives in Brentwood. Your location makes it ideal to walk on the beach. Do some shopping and visit my family. Wonderful experience no complaints. I will see them soon

My stay at the Palihouse Santa Monica was the experience of a lifetime. When I arrived I was greeted inside by Barrett, his formality and prepared was very pleasant and it was exactly what I had expected from such an esteemed place. Barrett checked me in and informed me of all the wonderful amenities and services they provided, such as the gorgeous bicycles they offer for leisure out front to the accessibility to room service and simplicity of there call systems. I stayed for one night and everything went perfectly. I had many plans for the morning but I found it incredibly difficult leaving the mattress as it was the most comfortable bed I had slept on in a while. When I checked out in the morning I also ran into Diné, I don’t believe he was on the clock but he still smiled and introduced himself. It was exactly how I wanted to start my day. I’ll leave this review off by saying that besides my stay at the Palihouse, which was incredible. The interactions I had with Barrett and Diné far exceeded my expectations of standard employees. These gentlemen deserve a raise for their affability and their business acumen. They really improved my stay and now I can’t stop thinking of going back. Thank you again Palihouse, Santa Monica!

I stayed at the Palihouse with my cat while my apartment was being fumigated and we loved it! Barrett was especially helpful at check-in explaining everything and helping us to our room, as was our valet Andy who carried our stuff into the hotel.

Palihouse is a period (1925) bldg with all the charm implies. The amenities are subtle, a lovely front / back garden, stunning lobby and very helpful staff. You’re 2 blocks from the ocean, there are bikes and solitude galore. This isn’t a choice for everyone but for me, it was perfect.

We were only here for one night, passing through Santa Monica, but what a memorable stay! Such a unique hotel with super friendly staff. It’s in a quiet neighbourhood but a short walk to the beach and all the action. The building was full of character and charm and (sounds like a funny thing to say) smelt amazing! Our room was more of a mini suite with its own little kitchen, lots of quirks, cool wallpapers and cosy lighting. The Diptyque toiletries were a nice touch too. The following morning we had a simple but brilliant breakfast in the back courtyard and left feeling relaxed and recharged. Thank you Hector, Bartlett & team - you have created something very special !

I recently stayed at The Palihouse Hotel in Santa Monica November 2023, expecting a luxurious experience as depicted in their online photographs. Unfortunately, the reality was a stark contrast, leading to a deeply disappointing stay. Firstly, the room's condition was appalling. For a staggering $500 per night, I was greeted by a room with stains on the bed skirt and a large, prominent crack in the bathroom floor, dust everywhere, a photo of a creepy child displayed. These issues not only presented a cleanliness concern but also a safety hazard. This level of upkeep is far from what one would expect in this price range, especially in a competitive area like Santa Monica. Adding to the distress was the staff's attitude when i reported the issue. We were “upgraded” to another room but it still was not what was advertised. The person at the front desk said this was the best room they had though it did not match the online photos. I decided to check out early due to these unacceptable conditions. Upon expressing my concerns, I was met with rudeness from both the woman and man at the checkout desk. Their unprofessional remark, "I hope you find a hotel without a crack in the floor," was both unnecessary and unhelpful. It was especially frustrating considering they insisted I pay for one night, despite the lower rate advertised online. It was worth paying to leave this place though sad at that steep price. It's bewildering that The Palihouse Hotel chooses to misrepresent their rooms online, showcasing images that do not reflect the true, worn, and unkept state of their accommodations. It's misleading and unfair to guests expecting a certain standard of quality. If the hotel is proud of its offerings, why not show the real pictures and let guests make informed decisions? Do yourself a favor and book at the Viceroy which is where I went after leaving this awful place showboating as a hotel. It really had “Get Out” vibes straight from the movie and was super creepy down to their staff. Shame on the owners and staff of this “hotel.” The positive reviews are obviously fake. They’ve had one person leave the same review from a different account (same name) to bulk their rating. Disgraceful.
