Hotel Santa Susanna Resort

Don't even bother! To start, the rooms are tiny and and very old looking, the whole resort is like being in a Swiss Alps hut it's such a strange vibe. The staff are questionable, when we were here there were families having issues with staff being "odd" towards their kids, so weird! This resort is like chav central, if you wanna be kept awake alll night by kids running around and knocking on your doors then book it, if you wanna be engulfed in cig smoke constantly, book it! If you don't wanna chill by the pool, but instead watch drunk people argue and fight all day, book it!! You get the jist, it's not very great :)

Booked as a cheap last minute holiday; honest review. After reading some of the reviews I was a bit sceptical of booking; there was bad reviews about rowdiness, the cleanliness and the “glasses”. Having arrived we checked in, paid the tourist tax and was given the room key. Room had two two single beds pushed together a balcony over looking the pool and a flat screen tv. Built in wardrobe with extra blankets, shower over the bath, sink, mirror, toilet and bidet. Toilet flush was broken so told reception as we went for some food (this was fixed in the hour we ate and had a few drinks). Down two flights of stairs and entered the food hall, plenty of food, fresh fruit, salads, chips, “dish of the day” etc. honestly food was amazing! Staff cannot do enough for you! Fast clearing away empty plates and tables. They work hard and always smiling. The same goes for the bar staff; always happy, smiling, joking. The cleaners don’t stop, security on site (looked like just the one) but this guy and the night manager didn’t take no messing and any trouble was dealt with swiftly. Pool area was lovely, clean, plenty of loungers. And loads of kids running about (nice to see actually). Majority of guests were English and there to have a drink and some family time. Could get a bit rowdy but I never saw anything that caused any alarm. There’s a mini bus that is run by the hotel and the lady who drives is crazy (in a good way) and she is lovely, it’s a 2 min ride on the bus into “town” always asked if it was beach, shopping, train station and she will drop you off. I believe the mini bus is every 15 mins (but double check at reception). The hotel is lovely, clean but a little dated. But you’re on holiday; you’re not there to look at the walls. Drinks tokens are a thing too! €1 pp to be paid same time as checkin along side Tourist Tax, get your token, go to bar, order your drink, give your token, take you “glass” back, swap for another, end of the night take your “glass” back, get your token back. They’re like little plastic picnic glasses, not really an issue (others have marked this as a negative) but always quick at the bar. Ice cream you have to pay for, tip tops free (All inclusive) burgers not beef note like ham burgers but oh my gosh! Lovely :) Hot dogs snacks available at pool bar. Out of 5? Hotel - 4/5 Staff -5/5 Food 4/5 Breakfast (not really for me) 2/5 Rooms 4/5 Overall holiday - 4.5/5 Go with an open mind, enjoy. Make memories! Would I go here again? 100% YES

Quaint - clean, comfortable hotel with rooms serviced daily & poolside with snack bar, compliments to the cleaning staff. Bar staff are very friendly. Reception Staff - They lacked local knowledge of their own area, and couldn't even be bothered to acknowledge their visitors. It was the worst customer experience and did not make us feel welcome. (I do understand and speak some Spanish). It was just too much bother for them to be helpful! Restaurant staff - sullen but did clear tables very quickly. However, we can not complain about the food. It was fine, varied, plentiful and a nice selection - thanks to the chefs. Deposit (refundable) required for tokens so you can exchange your glass - great idea - no glasses left lying about. Safe is 25 euros + a 10 euro refundable deposit but must be paid in CASH. Evening entertainment for children but sadly NOTHING for adults. Small sweetie shop also selling floating devices. Amusement Arcade - No refunds given if the equipment doesn't work - hotel policy. TV in room - didn't work all week - reception staff NOT at all helpful. WIFFI non-existent in bedrooms, kept dropping. Shuttle bus - supposedly every half hour - if and when it does turn up it may be just the 7 seater or it may be the larger bus. First come first served. You have to phone the hotel from the drop off point to be able to return to hotel although NO GUARANTEE - as we found out and had to take a TAXI back. REMEMBER TO USE 00 34 in front of the telephone number! The hotel is full of character and is in a great location - right next to a Consume (Supermarket) and indoor shopping area with restaurants. It is easily walkable to the town centre and beach 15-20 mins. There's an outdoor market right next to the hotel once a week and also one in the town. Lots of lovely shops in the town. There is a wee train that stops outside the hotel - 5 euros each. There is a train station in the town which allows you to travel more freely in the area and it's cheap, for example Blanes and the Botanic Gardens. We booked our boat trip to Tossa De Mar and a Wine Tasting in the town from one of the kiosks.

Just returned from a lovely stay at this chilled wee hotel. If you go you'll find a spotlessly clean hotel with a quirky Swiss chalet design. The rooms are compact and basic, but very clean (cleaners come everyday) The food is plentiful and was varied during our stay. The drinks are good and the hotel operates a token system for your glasses which prevents cluttered, messy tables and pool area. There is no entertainment as such for adults but there is a kids disco every night and bingo. The bar shuts at 11pm which does suit the vibe of the hotel. If you'd like a later night, the main strip is a 10 min dander with malgrat de mar a little further along. A minibus operates every half hour before 11pm to ferry tired legs to town or beach. There's also a really convenient shopping centre right next door. We had a lovely stay and for the price, it's very reasonable with hard working, friendly staff. Santa Sussana is a lovely place and great to have the livelier Malgrat right next door!

Great hotel second time I have been there can't fault the place really only reason I gave it a 4 was becuase it was the end of the season so the hotel was shutting down . Also i don't agree with people getting their own cups and being able to have them filled but thats just me
