Gardenia Hotel

Stayed for 7 nights in September 2024 with 2 female friends in a triple room no15. It had 1 double & 2 single beds. Hotel is in a good location for all amenities ie beach front, bars, restaurants, buses to Fira. Nice pool area with loungers & snack bar with great Greek salads. Pool is very deep & depth markers are barely visible which surprised me as we booked with Easy Jet Holidays so assumed they would have undertaken health & safety checks & stipulated pool depth markings should be made clearer. See photo. Good value accommodation for the price we paid. Good Wi-Fi throughout hotel. Air con in rooms worked well. Safe available in reception for €1 per day. Friendly helpful staff. BUT… The single beds were hard like concrete & so uncomfortable that we didn’t sleep well. Hot water supply was intermittent - water was cold for 2 days. On other days it changed from tepid to burning hot without warning. Shower head was high up & caused water to be splashed everywhere in the bathroom, unless you used it as a hand held shower which is far from ideal. See photo. A couple more brackets or an adjustable rail would solve this problem. Bathroom & bedroom didn't have any hooks for clothing or shelves for lotions & accessories so the addition of these would be a big improvement at minimal cost. Hotel seemed clean, although when checking under beds on day of departure to ensure we’d not left anything behind, there was an accumulation of deep fluff & dust, much more than 7 days worth.

Great location, spotlessly clean, cleaned , bed made and towel change every day,comfy bed, helpful staff, great pool area. Always start with the positive- disappointed from the moment I saw the hotel, it screamed update needed, the room also needed a good update, it was very tired and so basic, I booked self catering and it had a kettle and a fridge and nothing more. But I loved my stay, I would even stay again strangely enough.

The hotel is great for somewhere decent to stay whilst on your holiday for the price. The pool area was nice and we found there were plenty of sun beds available throughout the day whenever we came down to use the facilities. The hotel is extremely close to the beach and surrounded by loads of places to eat which vary in price. We were self catered and I would recommend this whilst staying in this hotel as our room came with a hob and a kettle, and as there are so many shops and restaurants/ bakery’s surrounding. The pool is salt water and so is the shower and taps, so you will need to stock up on water from the shops! The shower in our room wasn’t great and the decor was very outdated however this did not bother us for the price we paid and the fact we do not spend a lot of time in our room whilst on holiday. The balcony was lovely to sit out on though. The staff were lovely to us during our stay and we had no problems at all, the only thing is the tourist tax of 3£ a night per room which will need to be paid in cash- which we originally had not taken out but found a atm to do this before we left.

Visited the first day of the 2024 season, booked via a travel agent so was unsure until I arrived what to expect The plus point, great location. Short walk from sea front, with own pool hotel and meet some lovely guests. It was very clean, room turned over daily and I felt very safe even with a ground floor room facing the quiet street. Places for improvement the hotel was incredibly tired, needed a revamp. The breakfast dining area had far too many tables and chairs in a small space meaning some tables were left unoccupied as there wasn't space to back to back chairs to be pulled out to sit on. The cooked breakfast was the same daily with some "interesting" combinations, and fresh "juice" being cordial.  The cooks doubled up as the cleaners and it was difficult to know staff from holiday makers as there weren't uniforms, name tags or something that it was easy to guess. Any issues with the rooms yielded a charge. A couple that visited every year for 7 years and were known by the hotel staff we charged over €120 when they requested another room due to mobility issues to access the room by stairs the same charge whrn another requested a room that was on the shaded side of the hotel. I wasn't happy with my room, buy accepted it as didn't want to waste time on hy holiday addressing after flagging to my travel agent who appeared disinterested in helping.

Stayed at Gardenia from 13th -24th august,great hotel in a great location down a side street,turn left for the beach about 5 minutes and right for a supermarket for your water and other bits also Dorians bar just below on the right hand side which is great value and Grandmas recipes for food which they also deliver to Dorians!. The Hotel is a great base with a good pool area and people do put towels down but I had no issues getting a bed but I suppose it should be addressed as people do disappear. I had an issue with my pop up plug in the sink which was resolved straight away,my only niggle was the shower as it only had a single brick tray round it and no curtain and every time we showered the room was wet as well with only a tiny little floor towel that did very little,luckily I had a spare beach towel to use but again something that could possibly be addressed with a shower curtain. Would like to mention the staff,room cleaned and towels changed if left on the floor,bed changed every day if needed,pool bar looked after by the lovely Flora who works on her own and does lovely food,you may have to wait to be served when she is preparing in the back but are you in a rush when your on holiday?. All in all a great stay and met some great people,Would and probably will stay again,if not would pop in just to say hello to Flora,Just think Greek and enjoy a lovely laid back holiday,the Greek people and the Gardenia,Thank you😃.

Enjoyed a very nice week at this hotel. Standard sort of accommodation for Greece. Room spacious and cool. Don't usually tend to lie around the pool all day but that wasn't a problem here. Nice pool to get a few lengths in. Place generally clean and well maintained and staff friendly and helpful. Looses a star as beer and drinks 33% cheaper at the bar around the corner.
