North Santorini - A Luxury Spa Hotel

Experienced travelers will find this hotel far from the advertised 5-star luxury. The only luxury we noticed was the price and the view. The house is full of “rules” and extra charges. At breakfast, we were “allowed” only three drinks per person and one egg dish with three ingredients. The food options were limited (zero vegetables) and mediocre, served on tiny, uncomfortable tables. The main waiter regularly greeted us with “So, what do you want?” while looking at her ordering device. Complaints were met with looks, attitude and “rule reinforcements.” The villa, costing over €800 per night in July 2024, was poorly maintained and outdated, with cheap fixtures. The private and hotel pool were freezing cold in mid-July, “because it’s windy”. Can’t be such a big surprise that a pool needs to be well tempered in a luxury facility, especially if it’s located on a hill on an island. The advertised heated plunge pool turned out to be declared a jacuzzi by the staff. This was properly heated and cleaned only on demand after repeated calls to staff. Cleaning services were basic, didn’t even use a vacuum cleaner, which is a hygiene standard. Of course, no turn-down service, or attention to detail. The spa and wellness area is not freely accessible or included in the price. Guests are “allowed” to use the hot spring for one hour per stay with appointment only, after which they are charged. The hamam is a small steam room, far from an authentic experience. Other facilities include two treatment rooms and a gym. The two male managers we saw were hardly greeting guests, and randomly walking around, mostly staring at people. We witnessed a manager aggressively tell guests, “I expect you in my office in 5 minutes”. Regardless of what those guests did, displaying such a lack of professionalism and consideration for other guests is not excusable. Not in a 5* or in any situation in life. To round up this “luxurious” experience, you will feel like a walking cash machine guaranteed. Everything has an “extra charge” and comes with rules. What a sad story and what a pity that these establishments still exist.

The hotel organised transfers, and were lovely when we checked in giving us a guided tour of the hotel with a homemade lemonade. They provided lots of recommendations for hotels and excursions, and also annotated a map which was really helpful. They also very kindly accommodated a slightly later check out (subject to availability) as our flight back wasn’t until later on in the evening. We notified the hotel that it was our ‘mini-moon’ before our visit and they kindly emailed over some additional paid for extras you could do but these were quite expensive. It was admittedly a little disappointing that a gesture hadn’t been made (having come from a London hotel for 3 nights where they went above and beyond). My husband and I stayed in a deluxe suite with private pool. The pool wasn’t heated (perhaps an extra cost as it seemed to have the function) and it was far too cold to get in the pool (neither of us went in once over 5 days). One of the optional extras was a floating pool breakfast, and it’s lucky we didn’t pay the premium for it as there was no way we could have got into the pool. Although Santorini was warm (late 20 degrees when we went), the high up nature of the resort means there is a lot of wind and the suite we were in didn’t get the sun on the pool/patio area until early afternoon which we were not aware of (or we would have 100% queried pool heating before booking/booked a different room). The room itself, and the views, were perfect but I would ask about the sun time on the terrace/pool at the time of year you visit. Everything was completely spotless, and although we had a plumbing issue with the shower not draining it was fixed almost immediately after contacting the reception. I would absolutely recommend the suites based on the rooms/outside space - we just perhaps got unlucky with the plot in terms of sun time. Breakfast was good for saying it was included in the price, and you could have multiple servings. The staff are lovely and look after you well, and the views at the breakfast area are very serene. It was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of busier parts of Santorini, but a car/quad is 100% recommended as the cheapest way to get around the island so you can visit other areas such as Oia and Fira. The local town to the hotel, Pygros, was about a 15 minute walk and had some lovely restaurants. We didn’t eat in the restaurant, but we did have a drink there one night and although very expensive for cocktails it is a lovely setting. We didn’t visit the spa, but we did get shown around and it looked lovely! Overall a lovely stay, and I would recommend for a 4/5 night trip (any longer you might find yourself short of things to do, but longer would be absolutely fine for those who like to stay at the hotel with a book and sunbathe) but query the sun on the terrace and heated pool.

Our stay in North Santorini was exquisite, Nerantzis (manager) made our stay a memorable one, staff members did their best to meet our requests, food was excellent. Two thumbs up, looking forward for another stay soon. Special mention goes to Spiros, Tajoj, Asimina, Georgia (Reception), Poppy (Breakfast resto), the Spa staffs, Bar staffs. Apologies if I’ve missed anyone. Give it a try, guys. You’ll witness the marvel!

Definitely one of the BEST hotels we have ever stayed at and definitely the BEST customer service by far you will ever experience! From the moment we arrived, we were met with warmth and hospitality that exceeded all our expectations. The attention to detail and the personalized service we received throughout our stay made our vacation truly special for us. Asimina, Georgia, Michaela, Tasos, and Spiros went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our stay was perfect, and we couldn’t be more grateful. We have created so many wonderful memories during our stay at North Santorini , and we owe a great deal of that to the exceptional service and care provided by all the staff .

Wow.. simply the best hotel we have ever stayed in! The service, warmth and attention to detail was second to none!! The photos of the views simply do not do it justice, the sun sets and the scenery is breathtaking! We will certainly be coming back! Stunning stunning hotel

We travel a lot and this is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Intimate, modern, clean. A very good price considering the standard of the hotel. Service at the highest level. Beautiful sunset during dinner at the poolside restaurant. Perfect location, close to everything. We definitely recommend this hotel.
