Quinta de Sao Thiago

The hotel doesn't exist as a hotel. just a sign outside. They stole my money. You cant get there by car. No lighting outside. Just a building. Do not book with this ghost hotel.

We checked in and didn’t have a very smooth check in process. The place was musty and windows couldn’t be kept open easily because of bugs. No air conditioning. We went out for dinner and returned. Once in bed, we discovered our two rooms were INFESTED with bed bugs. In the few hours we were in bed before realizing, my family suffered hundreds of bites. After this, we couldn’t get a hold of anyone who spoke English or the host for many hours and eventually decided to leave to go elsewhere because we were offered a different room and didn’t feel comfortable staying here. We asked for a refund and didn’t receive one. We spent $500 for a room we never slept a full night in and the host never even bothered to contact us back after we left a note. We noticed bedbugs CRAWLING on the walls in certain places. This was the worst experience I’ve had in any accommodation after 5 trips to Europe. Totally ruined our Sintra trip as we weren’t able to find another hotel in the area. I would not recommend the service or hotel to anyone and I am having to contact my credit card company to attempt to get out money back because ******* wouldn’t help us out either/honour a refund. I have never written a negative review, but please save your money and skip this place!

I came to the Quinta for a yoga retreat. It s the perfect place for any wellness, meditation, health oriented retreat organisation. The Quinta is family owned, a beautiful historical mansion nestled in an lush garden and park, just minutes away from Sintra s historical center and monuments, and natural parks. It s a trip back in time, all the rooms are different and as if you were visiting your dream grand parents… antiques, silver, family portraits, grand dining room… The pool is big enough to swim laps and the space dedicated to our yoga practice had a wonderful view on the garden and the ocean, in the distance. It’s completely calm and serene. I loved my stay there. I believe there is only breakfast service, but Sintra nearby and the beaches 15 minutes drive are full Of bars and restaurants… They welcome external chefs to cater for retreats and events… I ll be back soon!!!

Loved this place! Beautiful property and so much to see within the property itself. Breakfast was amazing and price was fair. We got the suite and the room view was beautiful. Definitely coming back here!

It is a rare pleasure to be able to stay in a five-hundred year-old property which has been continuously inhabited and whose owners have created and maintained such beautiful landscaping. Our host was gracious and interested to share the property's history (and that of her family) which enriched our stay.

a nice hotel set back in the lushness of sintra, however it is quite inconvenient to get from here to main areas. The road is a 1 way 30 minute loop even though you are only 5 mins drive in the other direction. And if you do not have your own vehicle, requesting an uber was a real pain as the uber app did not recognize the 1 way road so was trying to have drivers go the opposite way for a 5 minute drive which only paid a couple euro. Of course, no driver would go out that way and do a 30 minute loop for only a couple euro. Nice spot, just be sure to have your own vehicle or be willing to walk 3 km to the area of town.

This place is absolutely magical! From the Quinta itself, gorgeous house with cosy spots and nicely decorated rooms, to the amazing surroundings, with hundreds of sublime flower and tree essences and to top it all, a huge swimming pool with gobsmacking views. We felt right at hone and had a very relaxing and peaceful stay.

My wedding reception was here many years ago and we had not visited since our first anniversary. My husband surprised me - he contacted them and even though they do not serve meals, they opened an exception and served us a very good homemade meal in the most spectacular setting. We were very lucky with the weather, and we had a lovely afternoon with the pool for ourselves and a very friendly service. As for getting there, yes it is difficult and yes, the road is terrible, but we were well aware of it so it was not an issue. You do need a car if you consider staying there.

È una recensione difficile. Occorrerebbe poter assegnare punteggi differenti a voci molto diverse. Partiamo dal positivo: è un luogo magico, che non abbiamo nemmeno finito di scoprire tutto. Angoli di pace nel verde, la piscina, le fontane, locali e stanze comuni davvero bellissimi. I letti sono comodissimi e la colazione (extra) molto buona (se non erro qualcuno aveva lamentato la mancanza di spremuta d'arancia, ma noi l'abbiamo avuta). Elementi che mi spingono a una valutazione non eccellente: la collocazione non ottimale per chi è in un mordi e fuggi su Sintra (comunque...non tornerei a dormire a Sintra, in assoluto). La strada è tortuosa nella parte asfaltata e, nello sterrato, non così complicata come descritto ma sicuramente richiede attenzione e procedere lentamente; il vero punto complicato è l'immissione sulla strada asfaltata, in cui si rischia di toccare sotto..basterebbe poco per livellare almeno lì. Wifi: non è che serva per fare i video su Tiktok come gli adolescenti, ma chi lavora nel turismo dovrebbe sapere che all'estero si hanno pochi dati e quindi una wifi stabile e potente per esempio è importante per fare prenotazioni di siti, biglietti, e quanto durante la giornata (io personalmente tolgo i dati) non si fa..invece è molto debole, ballerina, in piscina nemmeno arriva e nelle camere non è raggiunta in tutti i punti. A proposito di camere: noi avevamo una doppia (Cintra) davvero grande e comoda; il bagno, pur nello stile di tutta la casa, sarebbe da rivedere in alcune dotazioni, ma nel complesso bella camera (non regalata); i nostri amici avevano, per quattro, due camere che, nella descrizione, condividevano un bagno: vero, peccato che il bagno sia esterno alle due camere e diviso dal passaggio di tutti gli altri da una semplice paratia. Non è esattamente quel che sembrava dalla descrizione. In fondo basterebbe una porta per rendere più gestibile questa 'suite'. Noi siamo stati particolarmente sfortunati perché, al nostro arrivo, abbiamo trovato solo la persona che gestisce la casa e cucina. Gentilissima, ma non parla mezza parola di inglese, ma proprio nemmeno le parole basiche. È stato dunque un po' complicato intendersi, all'arrivo, e capire bene le dinamiche della (non scontata né semplice) location. Insomma...sospendo il giudizio: per un soggiorno di più giorni e rilassato, sicuramente bellissimo. Per una tappa a Sintra in un giro del Portogallo, non molto comodo e forse non lo consiglierei.
