The Suwgra Heritage Inn

I stayed at The Suwgra for one night with my wife and three children (ages 17, 15, and 8), and we were truly amazed. The location, the views, and the surrounding landscape were absolutely stunning. This is not a typical hotel but a centuries-old village home, beautifully built into the cliffs of Al Suwgra, a village inhabited for over 500 years. The traditional architecture, both exterior and interior, took us back in time and gave us a rare chance to experience the charm of authentic village life in a very exotic setting. The view, the cool mountain air, the rain and mist, and the peaceful silence were unforgettable. Check-in was smooth, and all the staff were friendly, professional, and spoke good English. We were picked up from the meeting point in Birkat Al Mouz. We stayed in the Al Barsha Suite, which had three bedrooms and four beds—very clean and comfortable. Amenities like hot water, tea/coffee, and stable Wi-Fi made the stay even better, especially considering the remote mountain setting. We also went on a lovely morning hike near the guesthouse. The breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all delicious and full of authentic local flavors. Meals were served in a scenic dining area, and lunch must be ordered in advance as it’s freshly prepared home-cooked food. The location is absolutely magical—peaceful, scenic, and far from the typical tourist experience. The only issue we encountered was that the bathroom was located outside our suite, and the shower or tap fixture could use some maintenance, as one was a bit loose. However, hot water and full bathroom amenities were available, so it wasn’t a major inconvenience.

Liebevoll restauriertes und für Übernachtung hergerichtetes historisches Felsendorf in einer einsamen Schlucht. Die Bungalows - Steinhütten - sind fast noch im Originalzustand, spartanisch aber schön eingerichtet. Das Personal ist superfreundlich und sehr engagiert. Das Essen ist ausgezeichnet und wird auf einem kleinen Platz in der ehemaligen Dorfmitte unter freiem Himmel angeboten. Die Übernachtung hier ist eine wirklich tolle und in der Form vermutlich einzigartige Oman-Erfahrung!

Qué sorpresa más agradable de encontrar un hotel en un lugar tan fascinante. Primero, por el acceso. Carreteras sinuosas con magníficos paisajes. Al final del camino hay un jovenzuelo esperándote para que le entregues las maletas y las pone en una cinta transportadora hasta el otro lado del pequeño valle, sin acceso para vehículos. Después de 10min. de marcha se entra en las instalaciones del hotel. Llegar con tiempo suficiente para admirar el acceso y las instalaciones. Te atiende Mohamed, actual gerente de la familia propietaria del hotel. Nos explica la historia del lugar. Empezaron con 2 habitaciones en 2016 y poco a poco han ido creciendo. Actualmente cuenta con 11 habitaciones siempre ocupadas. Todas típicas omaníes y mucho encanto. Habitaciones incrustadas en las paredes de la montaña. Todas con baño. Cena incluida. BBQ de calamar, camello y pollo. Todo alrededor de un magnífico fuego de diseño regalo de un anterior huésped. Al dia siguiente desayuno tranquilo y agradable con la salida del sol. Mohamed y sus primos siempre atentos y serviciales.
