We have stayed at La Sta. Maria hotel since the 1980’s (once or twice a year), and we returned June 2022 for the first time since 2019. Unfortunately, much has changed for the worse with the new owner. In general, the rooms and bathrooms need renovating - malfunctioning air conditioning and no glasses on the bathroom, which used to be the norm. Bad wifi connection, and the towels you can bring to the beach were full of big holes. The breakfast almost felt like being in a cafeteria and not a hotel - we had to make our own coffee and set the table ourselves. Also, we got steak knives to use for buttering the bread - fairly difficult to use for this purpose. The staff in reception and at breakfast as well as the cleaning staff are kind and helpful. In terms of the restaurant staff, the waiters brought the main course before the starter had been finished. A bit more time between the courses would have been nice. Some of the waiters do not have very good manners, and the woman, who showed us to our table, was not friendly, and we experienced being shouted at. The hotel is not good value - too expensive for what you get. We will sadly have to look for another place to stay in Sitges and cannot recommend La Sta. Maria hotel anymore.
