We loved the property, very beautiful. Nice beach, pools were great. The room was very nice. The buffet food was amazing, & having the option of multiple locations for buffets was nice for variety. The only issue we had was with premium upgrade. They advertise as having priority booking for dinner reservations. We could barely get one or two, & not at decent times. Yet our friends that were not premium easily booked multiple reservations right when they checked in. This was very disappointing as it was the main reason we upgraded. So basically we paid more & didn’t really benefit. I would definitely advise against premium level. They were unwilling to acknowledge that this is an issue with others yet the family next to us was there with the exact same issue. Honouring what you advertise is pretty important. Or at least understanding what we were frustrated with at the time would have gone a long way.

Great all inclusive! Safe, great staff, but clean pools and water parks for kids and great ocean views

The Barcelo is an amazing complex. Perfect for families of all ages and couples. It holds capacity so well. You are never looking for the beach chair. The food is absolutely amazing! The staff are always smiling and so helpful . The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and the buildings are stunning. We have been 5 times and it’s great every time! We had 7 families join us on spring break and they all loved it and are going back next year!

We just returned from Barcelo Maya Palace. We took a 10 day trip to the Riviera Maya area and loved our trip so much. This property is gorgeous. Everything about screams, first class. This was our 3rd time staying here and plan to return again soon. The speciality restaurant are fabulous, so make sure to book your time at dinner at these first class facilities. I would give this place 5 out of 5.

The shared amenities of the 6 hotels were really quite varied and encompassing. Excellent choices for families, think the Barcy club seems great. Their own dolphinarium is over the top. The beach is very good for that location, it is not pristine sand but does have long stretches of pristine, we preferred the area with a number of rocks and old reef that bring in a good variety of fish to make snorkelling interesting for beginners, but not Cozumel level of course. Close to Tulum, cenotes, akumal beach and other good snorkelling spots. The towel situation at the pool could be adressed, not sure if they leave them there overnight but lots of 'taken spots' never seemed actually taken. Think if you did away with cards and just cleaned up the pool chairs at night, might make finding a spot in the morning a bit easier to figure out.

Clean facilities. Relatively modern. Very friendly staff. Anyone complaining about bad service is the problem themselves. No it’s not a high end luxury hotel but everything is as it should be. Beaches are quite nice, they maintain fairly well. Ofcourse a few rocky sections but plenty of clean soft white sand through the 5 resort chain. The food is acceptable, the nicer a-la-carte restaurants are better, the buffets are nothing to write home about but totally fine. Lots of selection. Facilities at the palace are nice, including covered, open air seating eating areas. Some of the rooms can be a longer walk depending on how much you want to pay but lovely walks, lots of beautiful vegetation, flowers etc. the one thing I found a bit goofy was distance to bathrooms from the beach at the palace more specifically. But they are always very clean bathroom. Very impressed with facility cleanliness overall and staff friendliness. There are activities offered from within the facility, some are paid, some aren’t. Anywhere you stay in Mexico is going to have paid services for any off-resort activities, but this all inclusive does a great job. If we didn’t go somewhere new every time we travel, I would absolutely go back.

We were upgraded to AO, a great surprise however we did panic for a moment when they couldn't find our names on the Palace check in list. The resort is beautiful ❤️. Staff awesome ❤️ . Here's what needs improvement...check in needs to provide a welcome packet for newbies.....shows, restaurants, alacart, buffet areas, theme's, etc. they really miss the mark on this. Also while buffets are huge I don't think there's rules on keeping hot food hot. There's little organization to types of food put together. I also expected more Mexican food options. Even the liquid cheese was watered down. We found if we wanted a hot breakfast then order an omelette however even at 9:30 they were out of toppings. Always ran out of syrup for French toast. At lunch there was never anyone working the pasta bar. It seemed the smaller buffets had hotter food because of the # of people being served. Alacart restaurants were the best option for hot food, although our party of 8 couldn't reserve seating at the alacarts outside of AO. The ambiance was perfect, tropical as expected. We spent the entire week just enjoying the pool & drinks. We plan on a return trip to do some excursions

We've been to Barcelo Maya Palace twice so far and always left with great memories. The property is huge! Bring water shoes if you want to snorkel. I've seen a few people injured from the rocks. The food is great, lots and lots of options for any taste. The service at buffet is great, tips is always apreciated. No matter if you tip or not you will be greated with a smile. Overall is was an excellent vacation for our family of 4. We will return!
