First of all, finding the B&B was really difficult, as it isn’t sign-posted from the street and is a random semi-detached house with barely enough room on the drive for two cars. We did find it in the end, however upon our arrival the host was seriously regimental in his instructions of us having to take our shoes off and leave them in the doorway before we could go any further. The entryway stank of sweaty feet. Host claimed this was to keep the flu out of the house 🤣. He declared we were not to eat, drink or use makeup on the beds in the rooms, and showed us the shared bathroom, which was not indicated on the booking site. We were instantly met with the strong smell of cooking and curry, which actually got worse as we went upstairs. And for a man who told us to take our shoes off for fear of germs, dear god, the carpets were vile. I actually felt dirty walking around in my socks in a random house, as told to by a stranger, which has never happened anywhere else I’ve stayed, and I’m a big on travelling. Long story short, we got to our rooms. Only one had a key, the other didn’t but both had locks on the inside, which is the bare minimum but is something I guess. The room featured a bed pushed against a wall with two rock solid mattress stacked on top of each other and pillow throw at the headboard like the cleaner couldn’t care less, which clearly they didn’t, as shown by the rest of the room of which I’ve attached images. Every inch of this place was filthy. I’m not even convinced the bed sheets had been washed. The floor was disgusting, carpets stained and covered in black and grey dust and dirt from how long they hadn’t been cleaned for. The windowsill featured old mould stains and cup marks which had clearly been there a while. The windows were shut so the room stank of curry still, and on the base of the light beside the bed were hairs. On the bed sheets were nail clippings, not mine at all as I keep my nails short and had done so prior to leaving for Birmingham hours before. The light switches were covered in dirty finger marks, clearly not wiped down before we arrived. And although the host told us we would have the place to ourselves that night, after pulling an all-nighter for lack of cleanliness and comfort of the place, I got up to use the bathroom and heard someone banging around just down the stairs, which the host had previously mentioned was where he did Botox appointments. A really vile stay. If I’d had a choice I would not have stayed here, but I did not book the B&B, and didn’t have my car to leave, so I literally could not go anywhere else. You couldn’t pay me to return. We left feeling filthy, and I had to stay with the window open all night in the cold to rid the room of the horrid smell and attempt to make the night a bit more bearable. Random toilet in the corner of the room as pictured was covered by some board thing, and the light itself was covered in dust. Dead bugs on the ceiling also as pictured. Don’t wast
