Parkhotel Holzner

A lovingly, family-run Tirolian hotel with splendid architecture and equally splendid hospitality. High above Bolzano, it features Alpine Art Nouveau detailing throughout. Attentive staff. Excellent restaurant on site. Hotel most accessible by the Rittner cable car (12 minute ride with breathtaking views). Gorgeous vistas surround the hotel. Gateway to all mountain activities or simply reading in the lounge and enjoying the spa. From 1908 to the present, Parkhotel Holzner carries on an exceptional tradition.

My husband and I stayed three nights in a park junior suite with the half board option. Our experience was exceptional throughout our stay. The grounds are inviting, the location perfect for taking the arial tram ( Funivia del Renon) to Bolzano for the day and taking the Rittner train and bus to the Rittnerhorn. Our spacious room located next to the gardens opened up to a private outdoor sitting area. The room was comfortable and spacious with a good indoor sitting area facing the sliding glass door. We appreciated that the room included umbrellas, water bottles and a day backpack for hiking and the hotel provides a local transportation pass for the duration of the stay. We are especially glad we did the half board option and enjoyed dining on the patio for most meals. The dinners are expertly prepared and the halfboard menu includes three options off of each course. The staff is excellent. On the grounds we enjoyed the indoor and outdoor pool which are connected and walking the grounds. For those with children the resort is very kid friendly.

I decided to book at the Parkhotel Holzner after visiting the bar in December 2021 and being impressed with the ambience. I stayed for 5 nights and found the half board price to be very reasonable (likely due to the time of year) considering the quality of the hotel and the incredible food. The staff was very welcoming and had my room ready early. It included a complimentary reusable water bottle and hiking backpack to use during the stay, plus two apples (South Tyrol is known for them). The view from the room (20) was incredible - overlooking the hotel grounds and the mountains. The design was quaint, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom serviceable (I would love a larger shower but it was good enough). The dinners were great, with a new menu each day consisting of local and seasonal dishes. If you're not the type to want to sit down for a 3-course meal each night, then maybe just opt for the bed and breakfast, but for me the food was well worth it. Good wine selection, also with the option of beer or apple juice. The salad bar was a highlight. Breakfast was also abundant and included eggs cooked to order. Parking was free. Keep in mind that the cable car up from Bolzano only takes 12 minutes and runs every 4, while driving up the mountain took more like 25-30 and was a bit arduous. I am glad I rented a car since I wanted to explore outside of Bolzano, but if you're mostly interested in visiting Bolzano and other towns, I would skip the car and go with public transportation. Overall, I can't say enough good things about the Parkhotel Holzner and its staff. I hope to visit again.

Excellent location, rooms and staff. Sebastian in particular deserves recognition. We stayed as a party of four on business and would not hesitate to return preferably on vacation. The hotel is very clean and comfortable.

My family (with young children) had the BEST time at this hotel. Not only is it perfectly situated above Bolzano but it is truly a family hotel where we felt welcomed and cared for. Everything was thought of: a bouncer for the baby, potty training seat for the toddler. The room was modern and extremely comfortable, maybe the biggest family room I’ve seen in Italy! The breakfasts were amazing and the dinners were creative and delicious. Anita at the spa was so good my partner and I booked twice each during our stay. The pool area with sauna was wonderful and the extra spaces for families around the hotel was so unexpected. I already want to plan another trip there.

We just had a fantastic 6-day stay in Parkhotel Holzner (originally booked for 7 days, but sadly had to leave one day early). First off, the setting is fantastic. We stayed in an Eden Suite and loved it. The terrace in the front provided a wonderful beginning to every morning. The room itself was both cosy and very functional (combining the two is not as easy as it sounds!). My wife and both felt that this was a very well-run hotel, and all staff (whether in reception, in the dining area or in housekeeping) were courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. The food was certainly a highlight. Having booked on a half board basis, I still expected to eat out for dinner about half the time. That said, when the evening's menu was presented at breakfast time, we always felt the offerings of that particular evening were too good to miss. I should also add that while the majority of guests were families with kids, this did not in any way take away from our enjoyment of the place as a couple. Overall an excellent stay towards the end of our three week trip to northeast Italy.

Das Hotel hat eine wunderschöne Lage, mit traumhafter Aussicht. Gepaart mit dem rustikalen Aussehen das Hotel, wird eine gemütliche und entspannende Atmosphäre geschaffen. Ein Highlight, war das täglich beeindruckend zubereitetes Essen, welches richtig gut schmeckte. Vom überaus netten und zuvorkommendem Personal bis hin zur Möglichkeit seine Kinder betreuen zu lassen, sowie das Spar des Hotels, sing alles Punkte, die ein Aufenthalt im Hotel nur noch verschönern. Ich war mit meinem Aufenthalt wunschlos zufrieden.

Di passagio volevamo assagiare il 1908 e la cucina di Stephan Zippl, raccomandata da amici nostri (Per loro l’erede del mago Niederkofler) C’era la possibilità di un « dine & stay », abbiamo provato la formula. La magia dei grandi palazzi, discreti, qualitativi, con personale e clientela di qualità. Una filosofia nel offrire e condividere magie. Cena, colazione, vinoteca classe, zenitudine nella stanza, alle piscine, alle terme e tutto questo ad impatto zero ! Sempre piu rari questi posti, sempre piu nascosti, sempre piu discreti. Un meraviglioso momento, torneremo (anche perche non è cosi costoso). Grazie, veramente.

Abgesehen von der Lage mit Dolomitenpanorama und vom liebevoll renovierten Jugendstilhotel mit sehr sensibel gestalteter Erweiterung, sind es die Kleinigkeiten, die das Holzner so sympathisch machen: Die Kindertreppe am Rezeptionstresen, die zeigt, dass man hier mit kleinen Gästen auf Augenhöhe kommuniziert. Die Kojen im Familien-Speisesaal, die Privatheit ermöglicht. Der Parkplatz für Bobbycars, die schönen Möbelstoffe, eine feine Bibliothek, Spielzeugantiquitäten. Diese Beispiele sind nur eine kleine Auswahl. Was besonders erwähnt werden muss: alle im Holzner-Team sind herzlich und unkompliziert. Kein aufgesetztes Gastrolächeln, kein affektiertes Sterne/Haubengehabe. Für autolose Gäste ideal. Vom Bahnhof Bozen ist man in wenigen Minuten zu Fuß bei der Talstation der Ritten-Seilbahn, die Bergstation befindet sich direkt neben dem Hotel und dem kleinen Bahnhof der Rittner Bahn, die die Dörfer des Sonnenplateaus verbindet.
