Idyllhotel Appenzellerhof

We stayed here for two nights on a short trip to the Lake Constance / Appenzell area with the hotelcard we have (which gave us a 30% discount). Contact with the owner beforehand (I had some questions as it is of course Covid time!) was very good - she got back to me immediately. Only hotel guests could eat in the restaurant, which was therefore not at all crowded. Dinner on Saturday night and our breakfasts were excellent. Fresh, local ingredients and such friendly service. On the second night they didn’t serve dinner, but we got take out pizza from the restaurant next door, which we ate in one of the beautiful sitting rooms. The owners had prepared plates, silverware and a bottle of wine for us! They found not have been nicer and more accommodating! Our room was also perfect: comfortable beds and lovely bedding. I’m a very light sleeper but even though we were on the road side of the hotel, the insolation was such that there was no bothersome noise. Speicher is a small village and really well located for great walks! We walked from the hotel, through gorgeous countryside, up to Hohe Buche and then over to the town of Appenzell. Fabulous walk that took us 5-6 hours because of the many photo, coffee and picnic stops. Then took the little local train right back to the hotel!

Wir haben uns in diesem Familienbetrieb sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Wirtepaar und dasPersonal sind freundlich und entgegenkommend. Wir haben beide Abende im Hotel gegessen. Das Fischmenue am Freitag war top, ebenso das Filet und der Gemüsereis am Samstag. Die Wirtin ist immer zu einem spassigen Schwätzchen aufgelegt. Die Zimmer sind einfach aber gemütlich und die Betten tadellos. Was uns sofort aufgefallen ist, ist die Sauberkeit in allen Räumen (Zimmer, Aufenthaltrum, Gänge und Gaststube) Wenn wir wieder mal in dieser Gegend sind, werden wir sicher wieder dort absteigen.
