Seaton House

We stayed at the Seton House in late October 2025. This boutique luxury property delivered an outstanding five-star experience. Location & Setting: Simply unbeatable - right next to the 18th green of the Old Course, overlooking the ocean on The Scores (reputedly the UK's most expensive street). The location is superior in my opinion to the Old Course Hotel, being closer to town and located on this uniquely picturesque street. It is also the perfect starting point for a walking tour: stroll along The Scores past beautiful properties, the university, castle, church, and historical sites, through town, and back to the golf course. An ideal loop capturing everything St Andrews offers. Service Excellence: The staff exemplifies luxury hospitality. Every team member treated us with a warm, elegant, attentive service that made us feel genuinely special. When I requested an additional bottle of water one evening, the manager had it delivered to my room within minutes. When I tipped the staff member, he seemed almost embarrassed, insisting it wasn't necessary. This is service based on excellence, not expectation of tips, a mark of a fine quality establishment. The Property: Gorgeously appointed throughout with rich wood finishes, ceramic floors, and plush carpeting. The restaurant is beautifully located with exceptional quality food, though portions were modest (typical for fine dining) and expensive. Personally, I preferred some town restaurants, but that's just my preference. The bar area is magnificent overlooking the ocean, and the patio would be lovely for cocktails in warmer weather. Our Signature Room: Beautifully appointed with lovely garden views, luxurious ceramic bathroom, and complimentary coffees, teas, beer, soda, and water. Thick and quiet - we heard nothing, just as we like it. The high-quality luxury feel is unmistakable. Two Minor Considerations: The Signature Rooms (the lowest price point) are quite compact. Ours was on the top floor where the pitched roofline creates angled ceilings that reduce headroom. My wife bumped her head twice navigating around the bed. (Although with greater care this could have been avoided - especially the second time!) The bathroom, while beautiful, is very tight. The heated towel rack (a luxurious touch) is positioned close to the shower exit, and we both inadvertently burned our arms on the very hot towel bar while drying off (with thick and plush towels.) Limited space makes it challenging for two people to unpack and move about comfortably. (Also, the TV is above the desk rather than positioned for bed viewing, though we weren't there to watch television.) Bottom Line: Despite minor spatial constraints, the Seton House delivered an extraordinary stay. The exceptional staff, gorgeous appointments, unbeatable location, and genuine five-star service make this a property I recommend without hesitation. Truly special.

We stayed at Seaton House for my Birthday on 18th October. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I initially left a very positive review which i have now deleted. On returning home we discovered we had not only settled the entire bill at checkout, but been changed for the entire stay again. My partner contacted Rachel at the hotel and was frankly, fobbed off with some excuse about pre authorisation charges. 4 days later the extra charge remained deducted from his account this was confirmed by his bank that the hotel had processed this. Another call to Rachel proved useless with more excuses. A further email got us nowhere and the double charge remained deducted from the account for 8 days. Only today has it been removed. So yes the hotel stay was lovely but any issues afterwards and they were wholly disinterested. Not good enough for a 5* establishment. This amounted to a substantial sum of money deducted from the account for over a week! Very disappointing and spoiled what was a very special treat for us!

A warm and experienced welcome on arrival and we were shown the ins and outs of our room: Second floor sea-view was spacious and airy with a great view. Well appointed with very generous complimentary drinks and snacks. Very comfortable (reluctant to leave.) Evening dinner was largely excellent; service was a mix of classy and a bit clumsy with a few niggles (one of the oysters was the size of a finger-nail) Billing was wildly wrong, and fixing that took a lot longer than it should have done. Breakfast was top-notch quality and attentive service. The redesign of the hotel results in lots of ups and downs without a real heart to sit and relax, but the bar and dining areas were immaculate and stylish.

5* luxury from start to finish. The view’s spectacular. Every member of staff from front of house to house keeping bar staff and waiting staff, each and every one friendly and attentive. Attention to deal was exceptional. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Thank you

Popped in here to the grill bar with the wife and her friend for drinks-outstanding. Brilliant views of St Andrews bay and Old Course, a fantastic place, and great staff( a hello to the lady bartender who I had a good chinwag to about the RAF 😉 ). Also took on board my ask of gluten free beer. So good I’m going to book an overnight stay in the next few months. Make sure you drop in for a drink or a meal-you won’t regret it.
