Hotel Stadthafen Stade

Picked this hotel as it was located near the old city it (and a private car park no fee) and was a short walk across the bridge. Reception was friendly and readily gave advice on the old city and the Hotel amenities. Be aware that there is no facilities in the room for tea or coffee and the machine in the foyer is for a charge. Something we were not used to. Room was spacious and had what you needed. Great for an overnight or extended stay.

Stayed for one night because of a business meeting. Pros: Clean and tidy room. Free wifi. Good restaraunt in house. Breakfast buffet was good. Very polite staff. Cons: Too few parking lots were available.

Stayed for 2 nights. There are some really good things at this hotel, but some of the negatives encountered are within the grasp of the hotel management to solve. My room (No 19) was very close to reception and one of the largest single rooms i've stayed in. Only downside was the location on the ground floor a couple of feet away from a public road/walkway. I hope the window is strengthened - this looks like the easiest option for a break-in. The continental breakfast was excellent - wide variety of stuff available. The hours food and drink available confusing - Monday to Thursday, apart from breakfast, food available after 5.30pm until 9pm (i think) and drink 5.30pm to 11pm. Be warned, the bar staff enforce the 11pm rule without exception, their false friendliness disappears very quickly. Considering how the Ramada chain treats its customers in the UK, this is of concern. Friday and Saturday the start time is midday. Reception staff good with thankfully the ability to speak and understand English. For my requirements this place probably the best option but am tempted to try elsewhere just to make sure a mistake hasn't been made.
