İsa Begov Hamam Hotel

This is the place for those who want to be transported Ottoman times. It has 15 rooms and offers an authentic classic Turkish bathhouse (for an additional fee). The rooms a large and comfortable. The service is fast and professional. They provided us with a very good Turkish style breakfast with eggs cooked to order.

Everything was good. Very friendly helpful and accommodating. The traditional Bosnian breakfast was absolutely amazing. However, never ever ever get the Pedicure at the spa!! They had a young girl do it and she crouched the whole time . I sat in their bath area and she maybe spent 10-15 minutes total of the hour on my feet. I was back in my room after 30 minutes. I sat on a bed peice of marble. The tools look like she brought them from home. Most definitely they had not been sanitized! Not wrapped….just a carrier you would have hanging around at your house. She cut my big toe fumbling to remove the cuticle and after that she maybe was too scared to do the rest and didn’t. She didn’t even try to remove any dead skin. I had to ask for her to do this with a particular tool I saw in her kit and of course she spoke no English. I pointed to what I wanted her to use and then she only did the tiniest bit of it. It was literally the worst I’ve ever had in my life and I’ve had hundreds of them in my life.

A very friendly welcome at the hotel from staff who were always prepared to help and advise. My ground floor room was tidy with some lovely furniture, but I did find it dark and the bathroom a little small. Breakfast was on the upper floor and was lovely with tables laid out individually. The key for me was the location, just a short walk across the river to the central area with its attractions and numerous eateries, or to the cable car.

Decided to go solo and the location couldn’t be better, right next to the Latin bridge and the old town. Communication beforehand was ideal and taxi arranged to pick up and drop off from the airport. The hotel has an authentic ottoman vibe and the breakfast which is included in the rate is just right to start the day. The Hamam provides great service and the steam room is refreshing after a long day. 10 minutes walk from the cable car.

Sadly TripAdvisor doesn't allow for more than 5 stars. Stayed here for seven nights and it was perfect. Good communications beforehand. Discussed payments and arrangement of transport from airport (who turned out to be our personal taxi a few more times). Warm welcome on arrival and the rooms and general ambience were delightful and in excellent condition. It's not a large hotel and the duty managers, who cover 24 hours between them, covered everything in a truly professional and friendly manner. They were also good for information and always prepared to give some time to help. The local style breakfast with eggs cooked to order provided a good introduction to the day. As with the front of house staff the breakfast room was consistently managed by an unchanging team to the same high standard every day. I used the hamman twice as this was included and although I didn't take up the massage or treatment options it provided a pleasant and totally relaxing experience. Again the staff here were friendly and helpful. It is rare to find such a fine team of people in a hotel which provides a personal touch and makes you feel an honoured guest. Definitely recommended.

I had a great afternoon at the Isa Begov Hamam. While I did not stay in the hotel, I did very much enjoy the hamam experience. I've been to hamams in Turkey and Morocco, and this was very much in that tradition. I started in the steam room to warm up. Then my attendant introduced himself and proceeded to scrub and soap me from head to toe. Very professional, gentle, and thoughtful, always making sure the water temperature was not too hot and the my nose and eyes were closes when I was being splashed down. I proceeded to a 60-minute massage by Edita--who is not just a sweetheart (like having a Bosnian aunt), but is also a truly powerful woman. She gave a true deep tissue sports massage (really good pressure, nothing wishy-washy like I've sometimes been disappointed to encounter when traveling). With entrance fee, scrub, and 60-minute massage, the bill was 95 Euros--very good value by American and Western European standards. But various packages can be tailored to your liking and budget.
