Ecohabs Tequendama - Parque Tayrona

The Ecohabs offer something quite different - a hut without air conditioning and mod cons - but a great way to experience nature in the national park. Breakfast and dinner service was friendly but slow - allow yourself plenty of time if you have tours. The English skills of staff were a mixed bag, but they were patient with our poor Spanish! Our booking came with a free 1-hour use of the jacuzzi at the top of the hill which is well worth booking if you’ve been exploring a lot during the day.

I found lodging prices excessive for what the rustic cabins offer: 1. Long “hike” to arrive from the front desk to the actual cabin. 2. Furniture is affected by termites and it is getting pretty deteriorated. 3. By the price paid, I would expect air conditioning or, at least, a stronger and more effective ventilation system. 4. Amenities in the room should include free drinking water, repellent fluid, electric repellent for bugs in the room. 5. The only friendly staff were the bell boys and the ladies from the restaurant (not the front desk staff or the housekeeping staff), although by the high stake of the property I would have expected them to be more professional, responsive and trained in customer service. This is critical considering the amount of foreigners staying at the property. 6. No dietary alternatives are available in the restaurant, so beware gluten/lactose intolerant people or diabetics! 7. Internet and phone signal are poor to non/existent but I don’t even consider that as a problem since the whole idea of the experience is to disconnect from technology. I would not recommend this place to stay and definitely would not stay again.

If you have reasonable expectations based on the location (middle of the jungle) then this place is everything you want and more. First of, the view from the rooms is breathtaking. Opening your window and seeing a private Caribbean beach is on another level. The rooms are clean, have a fan, and running water. They provide mosquito nets but you need to bring insect repellent. The location within the park is great and I even saw a monkey from my room. If you’re looking for this to be the four seasons, this isn’t the place for you. But if you truly love nature and want a break away from the world, highly recommend it. The lobby and restaurant have good wifi.

We stayed 2 nights in Ecohab Tayrona with family (from 1 year old to 70 year old). The location is obviously amazing, the views on the beaches are beautiful and the original construction might have been thought of as eco-friendly BUT The water in the area is not drinkable and they make serious benefits from it, probably strongly supported by a big beverage company, selling individual 600 ml plastic water bottles ONLY! Is this a joke? In a hot tropical area where we spend our time sweating! Going around the cabana I was also surprised at the waste water management 🤯 Overall, besides the views that you can also get just from hiking in the park, I really think it is not worth the money we paid for.

What an amazing experience!! This is 5 stars the whole way! Let me begin with countering all the 1-star reviews. If you need WiFi, a working TV and hot showers 24/7, this is the NOT the place for you! If you would like an amazing adventure in the Colombian jungle, with the comforts of cold cocktails, a nice bed, wonderful food and gorgeous beaches, this IS the place for you! Each and every one of the staff were super friendly and accommodating. Everyone person at the Ecohab went above and beyond each and every day. The restaurant was first-class all the way. Food was amazing! We were there for Christmas Eve dinner. It was fantastic! The decor and food were out of this world! The beach is right there and so relaxing. They even have chairs, tables and umbrellas for each Ecohab. Finally, the Spa is awesome. The massage was perfect! I HIGHLY recommend the Ecohabs!

These are the pros and cons based on my experience. Pros: The property is beautiful. the rooms are beautifully designed, fantastic view, very unique. Cons: The food was below average. Uncooked chicken and horrible desert. they have limited Wi-Fi that you can only access it in the restaurant and at the reception are, and it’s one of those annoying Wi-Fi that constantly kick you out, and you have to log back by entering user name/password every few minutes , it was so annoying . The beach is a very small area, so if you stay more than one night you will get bored here. in order to access other beaches it is a long walk/hike from this place . The bathroom is one level lower than the room, you have to walk one level go downstairs to use it. Upon check out, they gave me a bill five times more than it should be. I only had dinner and a bottle of water and they literally charged me five times more. Make sure to check the bill and don’t just hand in your Credit Card and let them swipe. When you stay here, expect a lot of discomfort. From where the bus drops you off, you have to walk about 25 minutes to get to the property and there is no other means of transportation except overpriced horses. The hotel does not help the customers by arranging transfer.
