Sunlover Retreat

Superb welcome by Donna with hot towels and cooling water! 👍🏻👍🏻. Lovely room and shared lounge with extras and a great view over Tairua. Chris and Rover most welcoming too! Breakfasts with our three hosts were great. We signed up to a sharing platter one evening and the culinary skills of Pierre the next. Both eaten at Sun Lovers Retreat - no need to get up and out - all very relaxing and tasty. Thanks again and it was brill to meet you. 👍🏻👍🏻

This is an amazing retreat for those seeking tranquility, privacy, and beautiful views. Donna (the host and owner) was fabulous to work with and very communicative from the original booking through the day before our arrival. She greeted us with a welcoming smile, a glass of water, and a warm washcloth which was a nice treat after a long journey along scenic, Highway 25 on a chilly day. After a quick tour of our place & the amenities, we jumped in the cedar hot tub for a nice soak… a wonderful end to a long day but also a fabulous start to our stay. My husband and I are visiting New Zealand for the first time from our home on Maui and we highly recommend this fantastic retreat in Tairua. Not sure you can do any better!

This was a wonderful place to stay. Donna and Chris were very hospitable, the rooms are beautifully designed and comfortable and the views fantastic. The breakfast was delicious and it was great to have my gluten free needs catered for. It is also a great location for visiting the treasures of the Coromandel and near to town for restaurants.

Donna and Chris are perfect hosts at this wonderful place. The accommodation is excellent and the views are stunning. Lovely walks nearby and a trip in to town is only a short walk away. Donna’s wonderful breakfast will set you up for the day.

Amazing accomidation stunning views and beautiful room with a large super king bed with lovely cotton sheets. The bathroom is luxurious with large slipper bath and an awesome rain shower. Donna and Chris are so welcoming and making you feel special. This is the 3rd time we've stayed here and every time we don't want to leave.

We spent four nights with Donna Chris and Rover, lovely comfortable room very private with a shared lounge (only with one other room). Coffee, tea etc available. Donna's breakfasts set you up for the day. Very helpful with planning where to go and where to eat. We definitely relaxed for our last few days in NZ. We would go back tomorrow (but it is a long way unfortunately) Thank you both for a lovely stay.

What a diamond of a find. When we drove into Tairua, I wondered why I might have chosen this accommodation. That thought vanished the moment, our host, Donna opened the door. A warm welcoming smile and the accommodation - utterly glorious. What a gem of a spot. We had planned to travel around from here but, we didn’t move for 24 hours! Everything you would hope for and so much more. If there was a 7* review then this place would get it. The most considerate hosts, who really have thought of everything. Sadly, I did not think much of the local restaurants but, the food at the Sunflower was superb. I would thoroughly recommend using their local chef, we didn’t and it was definitely a mistake.

We had a fantastic 2 night stay with the wonderful hosts at Sunlover Retreat. A great location, plentiful breakfasts and a great meal from their chef Pierre. Amazing views from the balcony of a super comfortable room with informative and totally charming host and hostess. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

When you see such a lot of 5star reviews, you might be suspicious. Don’t be; Sunlover Retreat really is excellent. My wife and I chose this B&B because of its spectacular views and the fact that a favourite travel agent recommended it. Hosts Donna and Chris ensured that it lived up to its billing. Breakfast each day was outstandingly good with homemade granola, fresh bread and seasonal fruits. Wouldn’t hesitate to book here again.
