L'Abri Bed and Breakfast

Absolutely gorgeous B&B, beautifully furnished and with lovely gardens. Our room had an amazing view of the bay and the hills of the Banks Peninsula. The small patio in front of the room was a plus. So was the couch and the espresso maker in the room and the comfortable bed and exquisite embroidered linens. Breakfast was cooked in the common living room/kitchen area by the fabulous host, Jane, and included fresh fruit, breads and the best part - eggs made to order. All delicious. Also a nice opportunity to meet other guests. A short drive outside of Akaroa, so it is best to have a car.

This was a three night birthday treat for an Auckland wife and Grandmother, her choice, and the accomodation immediately proved worthy of that decision. Our welcome and ongoing care from our host Jane made us feel truly comfortable, almost like being at home except we don't have a cat called Rosie or chickens to provide fresh eggs every day. L'Abris is a place to come back to, why chance the unknown.

Very caring host, stunning views and an excellent breakfast: frwsh fruits, cereals, choice of eggs to be prepared, one of our best stays in our 4 weeks in NZ! This is the compact story, we need to fill to 200 words that is why you see this last sentence!

The self contained garden cottage was just perfect giving us the privacy and restful surroundings to recover from our two day journey from Wales, UK. Every window looks out onto the garden, the mountains or the bay in the distance, so you really feel at one with nature whilst the night skies are a sight to behold with the Milky Way clearly visible . The little veranda is a beautiful suntrap with garden chairs. A big plus is that there is a washing machine as well as the small kitchen, sitting area and big comfy bed. Breakfast was served in the house, two minutes walk away and was beautifully presented and prepared by Jane, the host, in the dining room with panoramic views over the bay and mountains beyond. There is an adjoining, communal lounge area with the same views but we were happy to stay snug in our little cottage.. When we ventured out we were blown away by the Summit Road drive which led us to a deserted Le Bon Beach, a wonderful memory of our first day in NZ.. Highly recommend taking a sailing trip on Fox II to see the Hector dolphins .

We stayed just one night in this wonderful hostal. The owner, Jane, makes your stay really unforgettable. We had a wonderful room with an incredible view over the nice garden and the sea. It was like a painting, just unreal. Room and bathroom very nice and super clean. The place is really quiet to relax and enjoy nature. Jane made a wonderful breakfast in her living room. We loved to meet her cat Rosie and have the oportunity to talk with other guests. Really very familiar atmosphere, we enjoyed it a lot and would have liked to stay more time in this place. About 5 minutes to the center of Akaroa where you have diferent restaurants and can enjoy the nice walk near the sea and life the history of this unique place. Wat een heerlijke oase om te acclimatiseren in NZ ! Heerlijke plek in prachtige tuin met magnifique uitzicht . Comfortabele en smaakvol ingerichte kamer en bovenal Jane , onze host ! Ze kan toveren met eieren en organiseert elke ochtend een fantastisch ontbijt , grote klasse!
