TLH Toorak Hotel - TLH Leisure, Entertainment and Spa Resort

Mostly dreadful. No toiletries in room apart from generic soap wash. No tissues anywhere in hotel. Room tatty though clean. Breakfast has no continental meats, cheese as advertised. Fruit salad contained tinned peaches. No bananas. No gluten free hash brownies but gf sausages were nice. No shower gel in pool changing rooms which were cramped and dreary. Pool lovely. Bar person shut bar at 2255 with no warning : we would've ordered another round. Staff generally unhelpful, depressed and surly. Charging 4 star priced for 2 star place. Avoid.

I stayed as part of a bowls tour. The hotel is very dated but would take too much money to upgrade. My room was comfortable but right over the entertainment lounge and the sound system of the singer made the whole room vibrate. At least it didn't go on all night! The reception area in the hotel is a small window in a corridor, which causes congestion at busy times. The bowls facilities are good, with a raised viewing bar. But the lighting over the carpets was very dim, it was hard to see up the other end of the rink. The other sports and games facilities were good. The food was very good and served hot to our tables by the efficient waiting staff who do well with the number of guests. This is a budget hotel and you get what you pay for

We've just returned from a lovely 4 night Chris**as break at the Toorak and were really impressed from the moment we arrived until saying goodbye at the end of our stay. All staff very professional , well trained, really friendly and went out of their way to help guests . I gave my compliments to the head chef personally after his Gala Buffet, as the food the whole 4 days was so amazing and well cooked. The soups especially were the best we have ever tasted ! A big thanks to Head Chef and his team , the exceptional food really made the holiday along with the rest of the hotel staff being so friendly and helpful. Bar staff very efficient, and helped carry drinks to tables for guests when needed. Beers and cider kept well and a lovely a**osphere in the Conway bar and Arlington entertainment room . Toorak hotel manager Roger Heale and his staff were very pro-active , always walking around the hotel saying hello and having a chat to the guests. Everything was dealt with straight away , from us accidentally locking ourselves out of our room safe on arrival , to sons bathroom light being replaced when it started flickering mid-stay and an iron & board delivered to his room minutes after requesting one. We booked direct with the hotel and benefited from free parking. Both our seaview room , and our sons standard double were ready for us on our early afternoon arrival. Both rooms very clean with comfortable beds and everything you need . Sons room 144 was on the first floor above the hotel bar area and a lot warmer than our room 213 on the opposite side of the hotel .(Others commented their rooms on our side were cold as well, although our radiators were turned on when mentioned to reception but still not very warm then ) There was a lift serving the side we were on , but I didn't see one for sons part of the hotel. Housekeeping came each day with rooms cleaned well and towels , tea/coffee tray restocked and plenty of loo rolls left. All the housekeeping team were friendly and did an excellent job . A special mention to Matthew who was very pleasant, made sure everything was ok with us and asked if there was anything else we needed like extra milk and teabags etc. We enjoyed using the indoor pools , jacuzzi, sauna and steam room in the complex during our stay. £1 for towel hire if needed and padlock key to use for locker in exchange for room key. Nice and clean when we visited each time . A thoroughly enjoyable 4 days , it flew by with all the entertainment , afternoon teas, afternoon quiz , champagne receptions etc in the hotel. Big thanks to Roger and the Toorak team from me , hubby and our son for making our Chris**as so special! Hoping to see you all again sometime in the near future :)

We are just leaving the toorak hotel ,and I must say it was a lovely wkend rooms are massive ,very clean very warm ,no complaints ,food in restaurant to a good standard and one member of staff in the restaurant Inna was a credit to the restaurant nothing was too much trouble very professional , I would def stay again and I am looking to bring my granddaughter for the half term break as the leisure facilities are amazing huge pool nice size children's pool .

I was at the hotel complex for a bowls competition. We normally stay in the Derwent, but this time, decided to try the Toorak. Good decision. The room was large with a comfortable bed. The bathrooms was good, although the shower head was a bit blocked in places. I live in a hard water area, so appreciate this issue. The restaurant was very good, and we were well looked after by the efficient, attentive and mostly very young servers. The food was good although limited in choice, but did not prevent our enjoyment. Overall we had a very good long weekend and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It'll definitely be the Toorak next year. Thank you THL, we will be back.

Stayed here with a party from eastons holidays,everything was super, freshly re vamped bedroom, very comfy bed and a lovely walk in shower, breakfast food and evening meals were spot on, staff could have not been better and dressed very professionally nothing was too much trouble for anyone , a big thank you to all concerned

I have read reviews on this hotel, some moaning about the paintwork. woodwork etc but to me the important points of this hotel is the food, comfort and staff whom were outstanding. The breakfast was great, buffet style, with the bacon fresh and tender along with the fried eggs, sausages, tomatoes, etc. Evening meals were superb with a good selection of meals available. The staff were great doing their duties and if you didn't fancy one of the ingredients of your selection it was soon sorted with an acceptable alternative. Our room was spacious and clean with the beds being very comfortable. The staff were superb, always willing to sort out a problem, give advice, answer questions, Yes, I would come back again and would recommend the Toorak to anyone coming to Torquay.

So poor and shabby. Single rooms horrendous. Spa quite good; nice pool and spa trea**ents very good. But distances to walk between elements of the hotels not good if you are not very mobile. I remember the Toorak from its halcyon days of the 60s and 70s, no comparison nowadays!

I visited this hotel for the New Years Eve Celebrations - I had booked a single room and what a disappointment - it was so tired, but it was very clean. I thought what have I booked? But I soon forgot about the shabby room when I saw the rest of the hotel - pleasant, and what a surprise when I went for dinner - the food was absolutely delicious and served by lovely friendly staff and in a pleasant dining room - all through the 3 days stay the food did not disappoint and neither did the staff; because of the food and mainly the staff I would definitely visit again. The party I was with all agreed that the hotel put on such brilliant entertainment for the NY's Eve celebrations, the hotel went the extra mile - Thank you all for a wonderful time.
