Howfield Hotel

The Howfield Hotel is a clean and cozy automat of a boutique hotel located on the High Street of Merthyr Tydfil, a stone's throw from the rail station. Our family rented three rooms for one night's stay, and we were quite pleased with the experience. While there is no reception desk or on-premises staff (aside from the housekeeping staff, who leave once they've completed their work), we were able to reach management and take care of what we needed easily. The check-in process was straightforward, and we particularly appreciated that they were able to accommodate an early arrival so that we could stow our luggage. The rooms have clearly been updated recently, and the materials have a quality feel to them. The chief down-side I would point out is that the only access to the rooms is via a narrow stairway, and some might be challenged by the need to haul their luggage up several flights.

A lovely room with upmarket modern interior throughout and at a fair price, staff were very helpful and even posted something back to us without asking for the delivery charge. Close to areas of natural beauty and centrally located. Would defo recommend to anyone.

We recently stayed here after being evacuated from our home due to the local sinkhole 🙈 Myself and my partner just needed some space to get ready as we were heading on our Xmas gym night out. We were very pleased that Merthyr had this high standard of room available so we decided to treat ourself. Spotlessly clean, Very smart room, comfy bed and clean bathroom. Right in the heart of the town but far enough away so it was quiet. Would highly recommend as it was so easy all round. Thank you 🙏

The is one of the finest hotels I have ever stayed in. Beautiful comfortable beds. Glorious large bathtub for long luxurious soaks, and a shower. Classy and elegant decoration. Absolutely perfect stay. Already booked again. Has been just so relaxing. Thank you.

Absolutely stunning rooms, centre of town so a good location. Cheap car park near by. We paid for the executive suite which was beautiful however, I must say I did not expect to find a dirty bath mat and dirty bath upon our arrival. We were only there for one night so it wasn’t a big deal but I would expect a clean room where ever I stay! Plenty of tea and coffee in the room and the decor was beautiful. We would definitely come back if the locals were more friendly!

Really good hotel located on the Main Street. Can get a little noisy on a Saturday night but nothing too bad The room we had (3) was pretty in pink. The design was really well thought through and followed through into the bathroom. The bathroom was small but the shower was powerful and there was plenty of handwashing, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. The bed was very comfortable. Overall this hotel was excellent value for money and much better than some 4 star hotels I have stayed in.
