This was the second time we have stayed in Casona de Vidiago. The quaint, rustic hotel has lovely spacious rooms and the staff are very helpful. It is close to the lovely sandy coves and beaches along the north coast of Spain and the ancient pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostela. Better still, it's within reach of the stunning scenery of the Picos de Europa mountains. There is so much to see and do in Asturias where cows graze on lush, green grass, producing gorgeous cheeses and apple orchards, producing delicious local cider, not to mention the glorious array of seafood. There are many caves with amazing prehistoric wall paintings, such as the famous Altamira cave and beautiful medieval cities and villages with their distinctive wooden framed houses with balconies . We stayed in October and the weather was warm and sunny enough to eat outside in one of many inexpensive restaurants, including the Casa el Rubiu, along the lane from the hotel,
