Bastion Hotel Zaandam

No tea and coffee facilities in the rooms. Do not advertise that you can request a kettle when the answer will be no. If there is an electrical problem, fix it. In the long term, it is an investment in your hotel. No table in the room. There is plenty of space to put it. Cheap plastic cups instead of glassware. Very cheap soap and ? Bodywash shampoo? It's those little things that make a better experience and reputation for the hotel.

I stayed here for 4 nights and all was well. The only complaint that I had was my wifi did not work for some odd reason. My room was on the 5th floor and it would not work on my two different iPhones nor on my laptop. The staff was not sure why it would not work, but the wifi worked everywhere else on every other floor below the 5th floor (I tested it). Thankfully, I did not require the wifi much as I have a local data package, but if I was an international traveler, then this would have been a big issue. Again, this was never a big issue for me, so I never demanded the staff solve the problem, though I did notify them of the problem. Other than this, everything was great! The staff was very helpful and there was one girl who works downstairs in the mornings who was especially wonderful. She helped me with my bags and I did not expect her to do this. She was very nice and I wish I knew her name to personally thank her. The point being, the staff was all great. Location was good, everything else was good. I would stay here again, but I would personally request a lower floor room due to the wifi issue I had on the 5th floor.

What did I like - This is was our 3rd or 4th time staying at the hotel. This time it was not a planned trip but an emergency since our Caravan brokedown on the way to the camping site in Amsterdam so we booked this hotel immediately since we knew the hotel & its facilities. Room - it was very spacious. The view we got to the backyard so nothing much to see there. Breakfast - it was not a huge & exceptional buffet but it is ok with a few hot & cold items. Staff - everyone is very nice and helpful. Specially 2-3 young men at the reception were very nice & helpful. Of course, all the ladies worked for the Breakfast & around! On our last day on check-out we had to wait a bit to hear from the garage about our Caravan but we settled the bill before check-out time, and told young man at the Reception we leave at check-out time due to our issue i.e. we are waiting to hear from the garage. Then without us asking the young reception man told us to stay even 1 hr. more if needed! Though we did not, still it was very sweet of him, so very much appreciated the guesture! What didn't we like - Initially we booked for 2 nights thinking we will get our caravan back but didn't so we extended 1 more night! I think due to that reason Housekeeping must have not got the correct info so our 3rd night room was not done, and towels were not changed! On our return to the room in the evening we went to the Reception & told that, but that time Reception said housekeeping personnel already left. We said that's fine, just provide us cleaned towels and they did. Price - is quite to the high end!

Super goede service, schone kamer, altijd iemand aanwezig en op prima loopafstand van de Balkenhaven! (2km) Taxi naar het terrein is aan de dure kant maar tegenwoordig vastgesteld op €30. Dus ook te betalen wanneer je niet wil lopen na een dag feesten! Bij het volgende feestje ga ik zeker weer terug naar het bastion!

Super vriendelijke ontvangst. Geen enkele vraag was teveel! Lekker uitgebreid en verzorgd ontbijt Rustige kamer met alle voorzieningen & proper! Dichtbij alles gelegen, winkels, restaurants & Hemkade voor een feestje. Op 30min wandelen. Gratis Prive parking !

Op de foto van de comfort room/gesplitste bedden, leken de bedden groter. Het matras was erg slap en zijn wij niet zwaar van postuur. Ik lag bijna op de grond en mijn vrouw viel bijna elke keer uit bed. De vloer was niet schoon en de badkamer was veel te klein. De wastafel was onhandig geplaatst en alles wordt nat. De spiegels moeten zeker op een andere wijze worden schoongemaakt, want er zaten rare kringen op. Op het dekbed zat een vlek. Verlichting was matig. De receptionisten moeten horeca training krijgen want hospitaliteit en vriendelijkheid was niet aanwezig bij de incheck als ook niet tijdens het uitchecken. Zeker geen 3 sterren hotel.
