Perfect location walking distance from the train station (10 minutes) , i took the room with balcony which was fabulous view , service is very good . For breakfast is ok but could be better, the seating is only allowed inside the restaurant. They have water kettle and small fridge in room , they put coffee capsule but no coffee machine in room .

The location of the hotel was excellent, which was just opposite the picturesque Zaanse Schans. The restaurant served great continental breakfast and the service was efficient

Deze accomodaties geboekt voor 1 nacht met mijn 5 jarige dochter. Helaas had ik het bijgebouw geboekt die niet direct naast het hoofdgebouw was gelegen, dit stond niet duidelijk vermeld in de beschrijving. Als ik dit van te voren had geweten had ik deze kamer niet geboekt. De annex lag ongeveer 200 meter verderop. Hierdoor voelde het niet goed om de kamer af te gaan om nog even wat te drinken. De kamer was overigens prima voor elkaar. Alle hotel info is te vinden op de tv. Helaas kwam ik hier de volgende ochtend pas achter, waardoor ik ook geen gebruik kon maken van bv de WiFi. Ontbijt smorgens was leuk opgediend met etagère. Personeel was erg vriendelijk en gastvrij.

再説一次熱水的重要性，其他什麼都好！

The location is excellent and the staff was very cordial -- one went above and beyond the night we arrived and allowed us to sit outside with wine even though they had already closed for the evening. Included breakfast and coffee in the morning by the canal was lovely! The rooms were as pictured and described and air conditioning availability was nice to have on super hot August days. The only thing that was a negative was the fact that we had rooms in both the main hotel and the adjunct facility, which was across and down another street -- if you have children, this is not something you'll be wanting. Also, our kids' room was literally on the street and they felt somewhat unsafe with a large window/slider on the street level.

Very clean room and comfortable bed. We had a room with a view over the water which was lovely. Very pretty spot and parking was easy. Very convenient for trips to attractions. Did not try restaurant but looked busy but no noise. There were a local shop and cafe close.

Check in was not ideal. We arrived around 9:30 pm with three large heavy suitcases. The door to the lift was locked so had to carry the cases up a steep flight of stairs between us one by one. Not great when you've been travelling all day and both have knee problems. The room was spacious and clean, but found the lighting to be very poor. For getting ready and make up it was difficult. The bed was very comfy, pillows great and we woke refreshed. Breakfast was excellent. Lovely breakfast room looking out on the river and served beautifully like afternoon tea on fancy plates. Selection for breakfast was superb a most delightful start to the day. Staff were all most attentive and very helpful and friendly. Would defo stay again.

I took a 'nano vacation' the weekend after work in Amsterdam before returning to South Africa on Monday. I had always wanted to visit Verfmolen de Kat, and Zaanse Schans was the ideal place. I loved Boutique Hotel Zaan. It was spotless, small, and intimate, and I had the most perfect river view. The restaurant did close early and only pancakes and toasties on offer, but there were other restaurants across the street, and the breakfast was lovely! I will be back! Note to visitors - if you want to enjoy Zaanse Schans - cross the bridge before breakfast or late afternoon - before or after the Amsterdam day visitors.

Location for visiting the windmills fantastic. Just a short walk across the bridge. Breakfast 10/10. CONS Room in the annex was up 3 very steep stairs. Not for the frail or disabled. Ammenities ordinary (coffee and tea ) below par. Room lacked atmosphere. The light bulbs were all a different colour some daylight some warm tone. The bedside tables useless too low to use. View out window carpark and industrial estate. The app to access the building and the room not explained in welcome email..you have to slide the icons to the right to activate….i stood the for5 minutes trying to get in…i accidentally swiped the door icon. And it worked. Would stay again but definitely not in the 3rd floor attic room.

I wish I had read the reviews first. Nowhere on the website is it made clear that the ‘annex’ is a totally different building on a noisy busy street, far from the idilic riverside location depicted in the images and descriptions. The management’s recurring comments to complaints about the annex seem to be basically that the guests are stupid for not knowing they booked something else than what is described on the website. Their comments are rude and deceptive. I CHALLENGE YOU TO SHOW EXACTLY WHERE THE ANNEX IS DESCRIBED AS IT ACTUALLY IS. An annex by definition is an extension of a main building, not a building that is unconnected to the property. It is not ‘logical’ that an annex is on a noisy street 100 metres away, where it is impossible to sleep. It is actually a pity because I think had it been made clear in the description I would have just booked a room in the main building and given the place a great review. The staff were helpful, friendly and competent. The breakfast was fine for the price, the restaurant is on the canal and very idyllically situated with a view of the old windmills that the area is famous for, there is a fantastic chocolate shop down the street.

Pretty basic room. TV is wifi and many channels do not get enough signal to work. The restaurant is really nothing more than a snackbar that also serves dutch pancakes, but the view from the terrace is great. The staff is absolutly awesome. There are some pretty good restaurants with a short walking distance.

The room and location were very authentic and the breakfast was great. It was my dad’s birthday and I told the staff before we came. The staff wrote a postcard and left some chocolate and balloons in the room. Very kind. Also the checkout was very easy.
