Friday 3 April: 1 train per hour will operate between: Milton Keynes Central and Glasgow Central. Milton Keynes Central and Manchester Piccadilly via Stoke-on-Trent. Milton Keynes Central and Liverpool Lime Street. Rugby and Preston / Edinburgh via Birmingham New Street. Trains between London Euston and Holyhead will operate between Crewe and Holyhead only. Saturday 4 to Monday 6 April: 1 train per hour will operate between: Milton Keynes Central and Manchester Piccadilly via Stoke-on-Trent (calls additionally at Rugby). Milton Keynes Central and Liverpool Lime Street (calls additionally at Nuneaton). Milton Keynes Central and Preston (via Nuneaton and calls additionally at Rugby, Stafford and Crewe). Rugby and Preston via Birmingham New Street. Trains between London Euston and Holyhead will operate between Crewe and Holyhead only. There is additional engineering work taking place at various locations between Preston and Edinburgh / Glasgow Central. Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 April: 1 train per hour will operate between: Milton Keynes Central and Manchester Piccadilly via Stoke-on-Trent. Milton Keynes Central and Liverpool Lime Street. Milton Keynes Central and Glasgow Central (via Nuneaton). Additionally: A half hourly service will operate between Rugby and Preston via Birmingham New Street. A half hourly service will operate between Rugby and Edinburgh. Trains between London Euston and Holyhead will operate between Crewe and Holyhead only. London Overground: Friday 3 and Monday 6 April: No trains will run between Willesden Junction and Watford Junction. 2 trains per hour will run between London Euston and Willesden Junction. Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 April: No trains will run between London Euston and Watford Junction. Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 April: London Overground will not be affected by engineering work on these dates. Rail replacement buses will operate between: Potters Bar / Watford Junction and Milton Keynes Central (not calling at Cheddington between 07:00 and 22:00). Cheddington and Leighton Buzzard. Milton Keynes Central and Bedford. Early morning / late night buses will run to / from London Euston. You can use your ticket at no extra cost on the following train services: Great Northern or Thameslink services between London Kings Cross and Potters Bar. Thameslink and East Midlands Railway services for travel between London St Pancras International and Bedford. Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 April: Train services between London Euston and Tring / Bletchley / Milton Keynes Central will not run. Trains between London Euston and Northampton will not run or will run between Milton Keynes Central and Northampton only. Background information: From Friday 3 April until Wednesday 8 April inclusive, no main line trains will run between London Euston and Milton Keynes Central. This will allow engineers to work around the clock on a combination of track, signalling, power and station improvements, including: £8.4m of essential track work at Willesden including the renewal of switches and crossings (moveable sections of track that guide trains from one track to another), and installing new railway foundation stone (ballast). Bridge waterproofing works at Ledburn (near Leighton Buzzard), a £6.6m investment to protect the structure and prevent future damage. Signalling upgrades worth over £7m south of Leighton Buzzard to reduce the risk of failures and improve long term reliability. Overhead line equipment renewal near Wembley, a £8m project to improve safety and strengthen power resilience. Power upgrade enabling works in Bushey to support future improvements to train operations into and out of London Euston. Station improvements, including canopy and platform upgrades at Harrow & Wealdstone. The work is part of a huge programme of improvement work on the West Coast Main Line which will ensure smoother, more reliable journeys for passengers.
