Hotel Montemar

I was excited to finally book a trip to Benidorm, and chose the location of the hotel carefully to be close to the old town. Travelling solo I was allocated a single room, which I thought was fine. When I arrived, the location was perfect and the receptionist was polite and friendly. I checked that breakfast was included, she checked and then had to update my card. Obviously a mistake had been made. Anyway I head up to my room on the 6th floor, I was pleased to find a double bed (always afraid of falling out of a single), but the room was tiny. It was dark and dingy, with only a view of another window just a couple or so metres away. It felt a bit like a prison cell. I thought I just needed to make the best of it. There wasn't a great deal of storage space either. I went to breakfast the next morning - It was awful and very basic. I'm not sure what it was they were offering as bacon, but it definitely wasn't bacon as I know it, or the "unusual" bacon I've had in many Spanish hotels before. The scrambled eggs had brown "skin" mixed in, from where it had caught the pan and not been stirred constantly. I didn't eat dinner for a couple of nights, because the 8.00pm start time didn't fit in with my plans but, a few days later I did go to evening dinner. Again the food was awful. The worst hotel food I can ever remember, including tinned fruit salad or tinned fruit salad in jelly for desert. With cold custard! It appeared to be cheap rubbish. I did venture tor breakfast a second time during my 9 night stay. The bacon was just the same and the scrambled eggs still had brown "skin" mixed in. I wasn't brave enough to have dinner here a second time, or breakfast a third. However, I did find some lovely restaurants nearby. I know this hotel does have some lovely rooms, as I saw into some as I walked by. The hotel is itself spotlessly clean throughout. The 6th floor terrace was lovely, with fantastic views. Although it does lack a bar service before 4.00pm. So there are good points (along with a great location), but the food is awful and if you have a room like mine, you won't even be able to tell if the sun's out or not. When I checked out the receptionist just asked my room number, not did I have a nice stay or was everything OK. That surprised me

What a hidden gem this hotel is, on arrival was given a free upgrade from twin sea view to superior sea view, the hotel staff are super friendly and no problems anywhere. Lady on reception very polite and friendly. Nice quiet hotel, lots of Spanish but very friendly and at least not full of rowdy English and screaming unruly kids. The food was fantastic, full board was great, never had a bad meal. Room was spacious and clean, maids will wait to clean your room and very polite and friendly. The view from the rooms is fantastic with no obstruction. Short walk to New Town. But we stayed in old town which the hotel is situated at. Booked again as soon as we returned home due 2024. Try it you won't regret it, get a sea view room they are excellent and the bigger rooms have sun loungers on balcony. On the top floor is a bar and seating area and sun loungers with the best view of benidorm I have seen 5 stars from me. Big bathroom Big bed Great view Great food and drink.

Just back from 4 days in Benidorm old town staying at the Montemar. This hotel was very good. Both breakfast and evening meals were excellent and offered a good selection. The rooms were very comfortable and cleaning was of a high standard with towels changed every day. The staff were very courteous and efficent which only added to the enjoyment of our stay. The view from our beach facing room balcony was spectacular. The hotel had a mixture of guests but it is very popular with senior Spanish people although there were British guests too. Breakfast and dinner time can get a little congested and there was a queue on a few occasions with guests waiting to be seated. There is a bar downstairs which also has outside seating on the seafront which is nice but the roof terrace bar is the place to go for a drink as it offers spectacular views and as per the rest of the hotel, friendly service. Unfortunately though, although we were led to believe that it was open from 6pm-1am , it only opened from 4pm-8pm whilst we were there and guests were asked to leave at 8pm which was dissapointing. Maybe the opening times of this bar are seasonal and it will hopefully change. All round an enjoyable stay.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. We had a lovely sea view room on the first floor which was ideal for relaxing and to watch the world go by, the room had good aircon …needed in July and we also hired a fridge (try prebook). The room and hotel were kept very clean. Was mostly Spanish staying when we were there and we had no noise problems. There a lovely terrace on the roof with fantastic views and the bar opens at 8pm selling cocktails 🍹 in a relaxed atmosphere 🍻. Enjoyed staying on the edge of the old town and would definitely return here. Thanks for a lovely relaxing stay.

Exceptional hotel with great sea view rooms if you book them very handy for old town and the harbour where you get all the boat trips and water activities. We were bed and breakfast i have to admit the food temp is not good but there is a microwave which sorts that out overall a great hotel.

We stayed here 7 nights. The hotel is situated in a great spot in Benidorm, next to the beach and the old town. All the staff was friendly and professional. Food was fresh and very delicious. We stayed on the first floor, a room with a sea view. When i asked to the front office if it possible to stay at the superior floor, they told us to pay an extrataxes. The person from the travel agency where I booked the hotel, didn’t know about this condition and was not mentioned anywhere. Another mention, there is no fridge in the room. If you have a light sleep, take some earplugs. The soundproofing from the balcony window is weak.

I would never stay at this hotel again, dreadful service and VERY SMALL rooms without a view, you look at a brick wall. Very little choice for vegetarians in the windowless restaurant. Overall dreadful and I would give it one star

Always stay here when visiting Benidorm. Small friendly hotel recentky refurbished with great rooms. We always have the VIP rooms as they are bigger and there are sunbeds on the balcony. There's a lovely cocktail bar overlooking the sea and the lights of Benidorm. Right in the heart of the Old Town.

Went to watch the sunset 2nd Nov. Great service from reception who directed us and the bar tender who greeted us at the food bar. Best cocktail I have had even freshly squeezed oranges for my sex on the beach. Views spectacular for the sunset as chairs are right at the front so nothing blocking the glass or views. I would say best sunset view and cocktail I have had in Benidorm,
