Ok lets be honest this was the WORST experience with a hotel manager ever. I should have known when the place we stayed the night before learned where we were headed to next and smiled thinly. We arrived at 5.15 to find a note on the glass outer door of the Hotel saying that they were off site for a few minutes and 2 numbers to call to reach them. We called both numbers repeatedly for the next 45 minutes, no response at either. As it became 6 pm we were desperate, would we get a bed?. It was a holiday in France. We called our previous hotel who said come back, they would find us a room. Last ditch I went over and shook the door one last time. Surprise, a young man unlocked the door. I was upset and angry, we now had 2 reservations. " Where were you and why didn't you answer the phone!!??"I said in an angry voice!!. The Hotel manager appeared from the back YELLING in French not to talk that way to his staff saying that "All you American tourists are the same, you think you can talk to everyone by yelling". " So what's your problem eh, we were in the back!! too bad for you eh that you had to wait!" I said in French.."NOT American! Canadian". "Paah"" he said "same thing". Upshot he tore up the reservation and we went back to our old hotel. They told us more horror stories about him, but that's someone else story not mine.
